The number of signatures has doubled since I signed it a few hours ago 70.000 + to 146,000 +

Parliament considers all petitions that get more than 100,000 signatures for a debate

Sorry but won’t sign it. Much more things to worry about during this pandemic than being able to play golf.

It’s not just about playing golf though, is it? If you read the email from the CEO of England Golf you’ll see that.

The health and well-being benefits to a 75 year old widower, for example, from being able to exercise and socialise with friends in a safe environment during these awful times must far outweigh the minimal risk of contracting Covid on the golf course.

Ditto to Billyboots comments.

Not 75 but the rest applies.

At our club during this summer there has only been one case of somebody with the virus and the guy caught it when he went to an Auction in the Midlands a few weeks ago (he reckons).

There is no restriction on walking, jogging etc.

Making a decision with justification based on 75 year old widowers _ really!!

The 75 year old widower can still exercise and socialise with friends outside the golf course going for a walk around the park

That’s all very well & good for you, and you possibly have family & friends nearby to interact with.

I’m up at 04.15 most mornings, I drive on average 350-400+ miles a day 4-days a week, In & out of high risk areas, in & out of hospitals & trusts, delivering to pharmacies (100+) on the 5th day, collecting test kits from doctors/nurses self isolating, so excuse me for wanting to do the only thing I enjoy come the weekend to de-stress, playing a round/s of golf, which is totally safe if in 2-balls under restrictions like were imposed before.

All my playing partners live out of the city and I have no family, so does that make me selfish wanting to still play and not be cooped up, I don't think so!

Not everyone is surrounded by family & friends, my main outlet, like many others is the golf club, so I make no apologies in my stance to want the course open, irrespective of how some think it’s of a low importance!

The Petition has been done to death on the other thread, so locking this one also at the request of the OP

Latest petition siggy count is 197380 and rising

Good for you. Critical work in these times. Stay well.

I’m also in & out of CGL branches collecting & delivering their blue scripts, talk about high risk environments, but someone has to do it, and as an organization, they’re not just about blue scripts, they cover and offer lots of mental health support also, so I get some satisfaction out of serving them, but I have to be really on the ball with my PPE.

That is some of the critical work that keeps the whole system going. Thanks for doing it.
