Course still closed :-(

we were closed on Monday but has been open all other days, although it has been a trolley ban all week - haven't played there for 2 weeks as had a detour to Woodhall last wekend to beat the pensioners! Hopefully playing tomorrow in the roll up and to play the new 9th hole for the first time

Presumably the new lake by the 10th is topped up nicely now Paul, or is it still leaking.

Amanda,
Royston will be open if you fancy a non-soggy hike on the heath...!
I did not like the look of the 17th fairway when I passed on Weds...!

I was at the range at Brampton and a guy there had played Royston to get his fix so might check that out

Cold but dry here. Course open but preferred lies in place.

First club "Major" of the season. Usually it's like Augusta on the practice green with all the new polo shirts getting their first airings of the year. This year it'll look more like the Dunhill Links Challenge - all bobble hats and wind cheaters.

one of my courses has had under ground drying system installed under every green over winter as last year some greens were like standing on the top of a cold semolina pudding, no growth up here yet as its still nippy

I think they will all be full Rich - although that was not what they were doing on 10 - it was aeration levels or somthing technical like that - haven't been in that lake yet!

I've been lucky. Our course has been open all week and I have got three games in. Only Tuesday was wet and I did not intend playing anyway. Fingers crossed for as much luck next week. Good job I am at work now as the sun is out and I havn't played in sun for ages.

Was soooo P****d off yesterday.

Didn't play last weekend as course was closed. Flooded.

Weather was ok yesterday, bit overcast, but no rain due. So rung up the course got myself a teetime of 13:30.

Grovelled to the boss to have a 1/2 day. Finished off my morning meetings and headed up the club. Got my card, hit the range for 20 mins. 5 mins putting.

Walked down to the first tee only to see a sign. Front 9 closed due to flooding. Looked to my left to the 10th and there's about 10-15 people queuing to tee off.:angry::angry::angry::angry::angry::angry::angry:

You can't believe how annoyed I was. No point in trying to play the back 9 with that queue. I'd wasted a 1/2 days holiday. No time to get to another course and get a round in.

They said nothing when I booked, nothing when I picked up my card.

Just makes my blood boil.

We're still closed. They may open front 9 today but not looking good for our home tie in the Daily Mail Foursomes on Sunday.

We've been really lucky with the weather.

Couple that with the additional drainage they added to the course when it was lengthened last winter has meant very little standing water anywhere on the course.

Played last Saturday and Monday. Fairways were semi firm, greens the same. I'm off for 18 post work tonight, although it is raining here at the minute so we will see.

We played at Brampton Park which has 15 holes open. Very wet but I birdied the SI1 4th hole (rated one of the toughest Par 3's in the country) so that was my day well and truly made!

It has hosed it down here all day :( First real rain we have had in ages though and the course badly needs it!

In the last two weeks ive played Kings Hill in Maidstone and it was rock hard on the fairway and greens were firm, its all sand based though. Yesterday and Sunday played Tudor Park Marriott course and it was wet in place but still pretty good nick.

I assume that more private courses would close before pay and plays?

I know pal, they do not deserve the business

We were open today - borderline playable in my opinion.
Not much in the way of lakes of standing water but enough that sometimes it was difficult to find somewhere to drop.
If the greenkeepers can't get out on the mowers then the course maybe shouldn't be open - there was a stretch on the 17th where they'd obviously begun cutting the rough but had to stop.
Had a deluge this afternoon - might have put paid to tomorrow's game, we'll have to wait and see.
