I'm hearing they are going to have to do more digging as the drainage isn't sufficient for the amount of rain / water.
Looking down from the house, can't believe the amount of standing water on fairways and greens.
Too much cost cutting.
TBH what would you expect from the Highland council, from what i could see while it was being built they didn't do enough on the drainage, it better than i firt though as the orginal ground was just a lake this time of year, but a few more ponds wouldn't have gone amis and they didn't do a great job on removing a lot of the stones.

in the summer it was great, but this winter has really shown up the course planning a building weakness

Back down to 14 holes at the moment as 15 and 16 still very damp. More rain due towards the weekend so not hopeful for a full course. We've our subs due in March and expect to be c£1700 as well but given the higher than normal rainfall this winter would never consider it as not value for money for my membership as the club do do what they can to keep as much open as possible and so when it is closed it is for a very sensible reason to protect the course. To be honest if it's that bad I wouldn't want to be playing anyway and better to close now and prevent damage to be fixed in the Spring

If we could get a neighbour to do allow us to do some drainage work in his land we could remediate most of the flooding issue that we occasionally suffer from. But he won't let us. And so we are looking at other options - more costly and disruptive - but as our flooding problems are only very occasional it's not high on our list of priorities.

Today we are almost back to normal - all holes open and 18 greens. Forward tee on one hole as fairway bunker work being done. Temp tee on fairway level with bunker work. Fingers crossed for the weekend.

You guys get paid too much :)
I don't get paid nothing - however - it's more that being a member of a golf club is what I do. :)

To afford it I don't spend very much money on myself on anything else - so you will never see me in fancy clobber of any sort; I don't spend much at all on tech or cars; don't do any 'holidays with the boys', and I spend very little on golf other than my subs and my clubhouse 'running costs' - so generally don't buy golf gear such as new clubs etc unless I feel I need to (v rare) and don't play any golf 'away from home'.

Yes it's a lot - but it is what it is. And I do get pretty much 'all year' golf.
