In all seriousness.... Well played fella, great scoring. What a buzz!

In a jokey semi serious way.... Imagine if a 24 hcp had shot 9 under their handicap to win 😉.... Bandit .

Superb Gary, well done mate

I've played with you quite a bit lately and this was always going to happen IMO, and with that start there's still something left in the locker, it's also a great lesson and advert to us all that a bad start can be turned around

Thanks everyone :)
It still hasn't properly sunk in, almost like I can't believe it's real.

Great shooting Gary, chuffed for you!!!!!

When I was much younger shot a course record at my club as a junior, it lasted all of a couple of days before someone went lower lol! Hope yours lasts longer

Officially it could only last a few weeks because we have a new green waiting to be put in play, but the previous one lasted through course changes so it'll probably continue.
The 4 lower than me at the club are all playing well so who knows.

Great play Gaz.
Doesn't feel quite right getting less than a full shot cut for playing that well, if you know what I mean...
Any idea how long the old record stood..?

The old one has stood for as long as I've been there, so 7 years.

You've obviously mastered the drive on the 18th Gary?
It's about time you got down to a 'proper' handicap, well played mate

Definitely not mastered, but I hit a good one yesterday. 3 wood over the big tree.

Brilliant. One of the top amateur feats.

It was all I was thinking about from the time I got to -3, because 17 is the best birdie chance on the course.
I played 17 and 18 differently than I would if I was just doing ok, because I knew birdie / par would do it.
I went for an effective 5yd gap from 220 on 17, then took a tree on off the tee on 18 just because I thought I had to to have a chance at 68.

In all seriousness.... Well played fella, great scoring. What a buzz!

In a jokey semi serious way I almost wish a higher hc had beat me nett, because that would have made a better story and given me something to moan about :D

Having said that, I only realised late last night I'm now in the end of season winners comp which I haven't played in for a good few years, so I'm happy about that.

Well, amateur one at least.

There are 2 framed cards on our wall just outside the bar, sharing the amateur course record of 69 (-3).
Don't know for certain but I guess the professional course record would be lower.

Anyway, today I beat it :D
In a medal too, so it should count as a new amateur course record.

Started rubbish. Had to chip out from my first tee shot and made bogey. Scrambled a par on 2 getting up and down from a bunker. Made bogey on 3 including a fluffed chip.

2 over after 3. Not the end of the world, but not good when you have 5 shots to play with.

The last 15 holes I had 7 birdies and only 1 more bogey for a 4 under par gross 68
Only 2 of the 7 birdies were from outside 4'.

CSS didn't move so a nice 0.9 cut to my lowest ever exact of 3.6

Happy chappy tonight

Well played Gary. Always in the locker something like that.

After a start like that it was a great score to come in with. Well played. It must have been a good scoring day yesterday, one of our Cat 1's came in with a 2 under gross scoring 41 points - but still lost out on countback.
