My course is in fantastic condition for this time of year the greens are fast and true,no winter greens or mats, hows everyones else's course looking?

rubbish, tee boxes need cut, fairways need cut and the greens are running slow. and its quite wet and muddy in places, and thats just the front 9, id hate to see wat the back 9's like cos thats usually wet even went its been sunny!!

My course always plays well in the winter a wee bit wet on one hole down the bottom end of the course but not a big problem, saw it in this months mag in the hidden gems section,Peter Whiteford says he practises there, a lot of local pro's and top amateurs do as well as its always good condition and its not an easy track to play.

Will be interesting to see how it stood up to the deluge today. It should have dried in most places but I'm taking a carry bag in case a trolly ban is in place. I am guessing it will be hedgehogs tomorrow (waiting for my GK hedgehogs to arrive so I'll take my chances with normal wheels - never really gets monitored anyway). The greens were coming back but they do need to cut some of the rough. Yes I know its suppose to be penal but its getting to a stage especially now its wet all the time (dew etc) that balls just bury themselves and are rarely found and it is taking time to find. There has to be an argument to trim it to a sufficient and uniform length to make it tough enough to get any great distance but to thin it out enough to find balls

In cracking condition mate , rough a bit heavy in spots , fairways , tee boxes & greens as good... nay better than could be hoped .. our place gets very firm in the summer which can be a pain , but we get advantage in the wetter times

Aye Steve, some bloody good tracks in that feature.....especially one beginning with H and ending in L...:o

Good stuff Bill, ours is the same, fairways were hard and tight in the summer ,your right we get the benefits of it at this time of year.

Good stuff mate, glad the course was interesting did you wear your Jimmy Krankie uniform in class ?.

I'll try and drag Mullan and Bobby down there for a game nxt year mate,it certainly looks good

Ours is one of the best drained courses around these parts being set on a sandy base, but even we were under water this morning, when I discovered after nine holes that my waterproof trousers are now just trousers. I was drenched.

The course itself is very playable in winter, but I have to say that in the last two or three weeks the greens have got very, very slow. In fairness I think they have let them grow a little with winter in mind, and they have had some sort of dressing put on them.

Other than that, no complaints at all.

Pretty good, all things considered. Greens a touch woolly, otherwise in decent nick, theyre rebuilding a few of the bunkers (overdue) so a couple of small spots of GUR but they are good for the long term

Swamp golf. 14 holes open, 5 winter greens, 3 tea mats, bow waves from trolley wheels, on the odd occasion that I put my ball in position 'A' on the fairway I'm lifting it and having to play from the edge of the rough.

On the plus side, the course is pretty empty so plenty of scope for decent practise around the greens, i.e. trying allthe various options.

It will probably dry out by mid June.

Pretty good. Greens as good as they've been this year, but the fairways could do with winter rules now imo.
We're never off proper greens and tees all year round.

We have suffered from a very dry summer, hardly any rain at all. The greens are in great condition due to 45,000 gallons of bore hole water a day being put on them. The fairways got badly parched and this has killed off quite a lot of grass. Now that we have seen some rain the grounds staff are scarifying and over seeding the fairways, this looks a little rough at the moment but is needed to improve things next year. We are also having a lot of bunkers rebuilt due to the way they have become enlarged due to many years of trimming, this will return them to the original Mackenzie style with roll over grass edges.
