Course Closed at the Height of the Season.Selfish or Fair

2 or 3 a year I could live with but that many doesn't sound fair to me unless your club has an arrangement with another club that you could play on a reduced green fee.

Having said that, if it were at my place the pro would be more than happy to take your name and find you another 3 to play with.

I cannot see the necessity of closing the course unless competitors are teeing off well into the afternoon. My local course recently had its annual four day open competition with the course being closed throughout. I had seen the tee times published on the noticeboard with the last groups going out at 12:30. The course could have easily been opened at 14:00 or thereabouts for us casual types but they chose not to. At least with an enforced four day lay-off I was able to work through the wife's DIY to do list. Much joy.

I had a look at the Course Diary spreadsheet for the OPs course. In reality, it doesn't look too much different from many other places at this time of year. One thing, there does seem to be a lot of society traffic. Is that a help or a hindrance in getting on the course.

When we've got a busy card, it can be later in the afternoon before you can get off, but, it's all part of a busy club so doesn't really bother me.

Not everything is in the online diary for some reason this year. I suppose I was just having a vent because the last few times I have been able to get out for a second round at the weekend, the course has been shut for some reason or other. Take this weekend, I can play both days but the club open comp is on Sunday so course closed. I have permission to play 3 days next week but the course is shut for the mixed open on bank holiday monday. I know these things are traditional and I know that the room has to be found somewhere but it does not make it any less frustrating when you are sat at home, desperate to get out and the course is shut to fee paying members.
