What's the big secret with county cards? I had a meeting with the captain when I joined my club, I had several emails back and forth with the Golf Manager at the club regards the benefits of becoming a member and I had the club welcome pack. All of them failed to mention that I was now entitled to a county card.

Why? I don't understand why no-one has mentioned this to me at all.

It's all very well having schemes like this in place but if no-one knows about it, it devalues the whole thing.

Strange when I joined I was given mine as part of my welcome pack.
I know it used to be an option but as it now comes with club membership all the clubs should do there bit to at least give you the info.

We had a small booklet last year with a list of clubs that take part in the county card scheme which offer anything "up to" 50% off green fee's.

This year we got a swipe card so instead of a book being signed and stamped, it just gets swiped.

Excellent scheme and should have been in your annual pack.

not sure, but I have a Warwickshire Golf Union County Card. I have played Cherwell Edge in Banbury (Oxfordshire), Hartney Witney in Hook (Hampshire), Ingon Manor and The Welcome Stratford on Avon. Each time all I have done is ask about County Card deal when booking.

I'm in Dorset, we have to buy ours seperately from the county secretary but an absolute bargain at £10 for the year. You save more than that the first time you use it, ours covers most counties.

Right so I picked up my card yesterday, It's free and is an intercounty card.

Absolutely brilliant deal imo, just a shame that it's not in the welcome pack or mentioned at the captains meeting.

I think that was just an oversight TBH as it doesn't benefit them to leave it out.
