Condition of your course as Spring arrives

Thanks for the comments Greenkeeper, very informative. Wonder if you can shed any light on a point for me. Our green had been treated with something the other week and were almost black, what would this be?

Our tees and greens were treated similarly. I would guess a top dressing of very well rotted organic compost or similar. The benefit is already growing through.

Just a quick one and I off to bed, 6:30 start for me tomorrow.

Firstly thanks for your comments I am sure greenkeepers reading this will appreciate the feedback as much as I do.

GB72. Your greenkeeper has probably applied iron sulphate (Fe) it’s used as a turf hardener, removes/ discourages moss, lowers Ph, helps recovery after winter and strengthens plant cell walls to prevent disease attack. Similar to us humans when we take iron tablets! Or when we drink Guinness, good for the blood.

You will soon see the grass turn a lovely green without that lush growth and ready for the summer.

Good move and perfect timing I say, well I would say that as I have just done the same thing.
