ok ive got a new laptop and everything is fine but i nearly dropped it today and when i caught while it was on, the writing on the screen is smaller, how do i get it bigger, next question i havent used the free 60 day norton virus thingy but dont want to pay any suggestions on preferances ive used AVG in the past is it good, thanks

Issue 1) is it all the writing on the screen or just web pages?

Issues 2) I used AVAST for a while but then just found AV slows your PC down, solution be more careful where you go.. Kaspersky is a good cheap paid for AV.

I use microsoft security essentials. It's better than people think and came level with some of the big names in a US study.

I had a 90 day trial of McAfee with my new laptop. As soon as I registered it and let it update and run, I couldn't connect to the internet.

I googled it, discovered thousands of users across the globe had the same issue.

It took McAfee no less than 4 weeks to email me to say "some users have been experiencing....."

They also are bombarding me with emails to sign up permanently.

I've uninstalled it, and have bombarded their forums with my opinion....

f.w.i.w. I never had a virus on my last laptop. 7 years virus free. First 4 years AVG, last 3 years MSE.

I tried Avast on my powerful desktop upstairs which runs on a SSD and 4gb RAM on windows7 pro 32 bit.

Slowed it down terribly and was a bit** to remove.

Microsoft Security Essentials is a favorite of mine with great detection rates, particularly for rootkits. Even more impressive is the fact that Microsoft Security Essentials has very few false positives, is light on resources and is good at removal of existing malware. MSE is a great choice for average users because of the minimal user interaction required. It automatically updates and removes threats. No registration is needed, apart from a quick validating of Windows, and there are no nag screens or advertisements.

Panda is also good, but I can't bring myself to download their free one as they are one of the companies that profit from selling extortionate top-end packages which are totally aimed at fleecing paranoid people.

I used to pay for Bullguard as I got a special rate when I bought my barebones gaming rig. Once that expired after 3 years I told them I was not paying 4 times more for the same service!

Not even online at home at the moment, will probably look into paying for Kasp. when I get online again.

As for the screen, if you have a mouse try ctrl and the mousewheel :)
