Composite Decking

We are thinking of having a significant area of the existing concrete slab patio turned into decking with a couple of levels, ramps and steps. The initial suggestion was to replace the patio and use porcelain tiles but the latest idea is to reduce the costs a little and cover the area using composite decking. Now, I am really lazy (never take the flag out, don't take my glove off from first drive to last put etc) so the idea of low maintenance really appeals. Has anyone got any experience with them? Are they really low maintenance, are there other downsides to be considered?
