Comments on the Masters please

Underwhelming is a good word for the finale! Thought we were in for a cracker mid front 9 but in the end it was a case of watching in the hope of a couple of Masters moments to really ignite the event and make it something other than a precession!

found it boring, same old comments about the course from the pundits, same comments from the players, its getting a bit clichéd now and should not be a major but a stand alone competition, this year it seemed more false than previous years with tricked out pin positions and how they adjusted the green to be inconsistent in pace, give me the OPEN anyday played on a bone dry links with a strong wind, proper bunkers with sand in ( ask PHIL MICK about hitting the liner on the ones at AUGUSTA) gorse upto your nads now THATS a proper test.

I don't tend to agree with people who say it shouldn't be a major, it's a Major with shed loads of history and tradition, it kicks off the golf season for the majority of amateur golfers like you and I, and does really well at creating a buzz around the sport. The course looked in fantastic condition and the greens looked as scary as ever. Loved that they managed to get the greens playing a little differently on the final day, but all in all the tournament in general was a little bit of a let down once Jordan cracked under the pressure. Bubba was a worthy winner and showed at times how to attack the course.

There is no doubt that it's become a little bit of a bombers course now, but you have to have nerves of steel to chip and putt around there, so it's not completely down to distance off the tee as we saw numerous times over the weekend.

I'll admit that I did miss Tiger a little bit, he brings something special to the game in general, even is he isn't playing well. Already looking forward to next years tournament, hopefully it'll be a little bit more of a nail biter come the final round.

Big let down after the big build up IMO. Not enough of the big players turned up & the 1st hour of coverage each day was hard work.
Not the same with out the world No1 either.

God help televised golf when Tiger finally puts his clubs in the shed for there final time, I watched most of it but didn't feel any excitement really until Speith and Bubba went toe to toe for a couple of holes which quickly died a death.

I'd like to know if viewing figures where down with Tiger not in the field?

That is a certainty. There is a sizeable viewership which only watches Tiger.

Bubba won it well but I can't say I was thrilled to see it. Would have preferred Spieth or a European.

I'd rather have seen anyone but Bubba win it

Thought we might have been in for a grandstand finish with Bubba and Spieth, disappointed it never materialised and lost interest with a few holes to go.
Enjoyable coverage from SKY with Monty and Jack etc.

Really enjoyed the sky coverage this year , was hoping for it to be a bit closer but you have to hand it to bubba he really attacked the back 9 and it payed off , jordan spieth will have learned alot from this week and will come on leaps and bounds

Decided to stay up and watch it all, in the vain hope that something, "Masterful" would happen. Thought Speith would make more of a fight but the putts didn't fall for him, after getting in good positions for birdies.

Bubba showed he has the bottle for a Major win, again - hats off to him.

But I have to agree with the underwhelmed! It just didn't get going - nobody made a charge, no European challenge and no real excitement.

And I've felt the effects all day of not enough sleep!!

Having Jack Nicklaus on the Sky team is great. He makes for a great guest. Maybe better on nostalgia and course set up stuff than knowing all the modern players, but well worth whatever they pay him. You can see Monty sit there in awe. Anything that shuts Monty up a bit is to be encouraged.

To many golfers trying hard not to look stupid. It was no classic.

How great was it when they actually gave a Monty a pie and said there's your humble pie for saying Bubba would collapse and wouldn't be able to bring it home

I did read that one of the US tv channels had seen a 30% drop in viewing figures for the first day of this year's Masters. Bubba was a worthy winner but we have become so accustomed to Tiger or Phil being headline news one way or another that it seems a bit odd when neither of them are around.
