Comments on the Masters please

I found most of what I watched a bit underwhelming really. Found myself just watching, rather than really getting lost in it.

This...but a few things
I'd love to see the shot tracer on every one of bubbas woods and irons.
Jimenez is a class act - a real character and looked as though he enjoys the interaction with crowd. A great performance by a 'short' hitter.
Love how honest Poulter is after he's played.
Shame Westwood/Bjorn and other Europeans couldn't kick on
Some of the pitching was unbelievably good - Westwood had a couple of beauties.

Where's Wayne Grady at these days?

underwhelming has been mentioned a couple of times and that's about right. not really a fan of bubba and i like to see young players suffer before they win a big one.

that said, bubba was miles better than the rest and fully deserved his new coat.

i wonder what bobby jones would make of the "golf boys" videos.

having tiger there to either make a charge or melt down on sunday would have made it more interesting.

Slightly underwhelming. Found myself switching between BBC and Sky just to try and hear something interesting on commentary. All a bit of a procession for the last few holes but Bubba is always fun to watch and see how much he'll move it on every shot while doing some form of soft shoe shuffle in the process

Felt a bit that way as well - interest wavered and I didn't bother watching the last few holes.

Bubba is world class!

I agree.
Bubba is to golf what Ronnie o"Sullivan is to snooker.
Ultra talented,he can do anything with a ball.
Bubba"s dancing feet is testament to his amazing ability,he produces shots only
others can dream about.
Must admit I also didn't get blown away by procedings, good but not amazing.

Too many players not wanting to risk safe position on the leader board, so playing it safe. Seems to be a feature of golf tournaments to me these days.

As per usual I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The course was set up tough all week, so the players were having to plot their way around.
Risks were generally rewarded, or ended up being punished if execution was off.
Bubba is a bit of a "marmite" golfer, but deserved his win.
Good to see so many newcomers to the event, and in Spieth & Blixt I think both sides will have real star debutants at the Ryder Cup.
Decent showing from the Europeans, but some started too slowly. Especially Rose.
If McIlroy & Westwood could buy a few putts they could have featured heavily.
I lover the Masters, I watch it every year and I don't want anything to change about it, except to shorten the 11th, so we can see more players attack the green with shorter clubs rather than baling out to the right.

Looking forward to seeing that strange swing compete with 30 mph wind at the Open, think fisherman will be in danger.

Oh I am not saying he is the best golfer on the planet or anything like that. I am saying he has show us he is not a flash in the pan. He has come a long way in the last 3 years and he has learned to control himself is a very impressive way!

TBH i can take it or leave it. I had it on but fell asleep and only woke up when Bubba sank the last shot.

Whats Bubs real name, i bet its Dave or Brian?

The back 9 on Masters Sunday should be exciting.
This wasn't and I'm going to blame the setup...
The back 9 is difficult enough as it is but when you pitch 1 yard to little you roll back into a lake or you pitch 1yard too far you go over the green and you have no real chance of up and down it makes players defensive
Nobody was able to make a run at Bubba as it was simply too risky.
To make it exciting you have to be able to make birdies - very hard on most holes
Less than 7% of rounds in the 60's - no excitement for me watching the best in the world struggle play par golf

Well he's won as many majors as McIlroy, Norman, Langer... he's no flash in the pan

I too felt it was an unexciting Masters, like" the Curates egg", good inparts.
Did anyone else feel Peter Alliss's constant remarks about the greens being like marble and not enjoying balls moving from slopes nowhere near the flags ,not being what Bobby Jones would have liked and envisaged for the course when designed were ,infact almost daring the Augusta committee to ban him?
I must say I felt the set up was "gimmicky" and prefer the accuracy of aiming and getting to difficult pins by skill alone.

Ah homergate the sycophant edition:D, embrace social media but not it's joined up nature:o

The masters was a little bit boring, the coverage by sky was good (I could watch it thanks to the generosity of another forumer:thup:)

But the beeb always shade it for me, it's a bit more comfortable and familiar, and mark roe is no ken brown!! Did you see the bit where they pretended it was raining :o

Again, maybe just me, but I find the masters a bit sinister, as I do with Disney world:confused:

It's like a pre packaged American version of what Walt would like a major to look like. I half expected Mickey Mouse to be caddying for Freddie couples !!

It's all a bit perfect and sickly sweet, like a surburban housing estate, full of cheerleaders, Fourth of July BBQ's and serial killers !!

I really enjoyed it.

I remember when they first lengthend the course it almost seemed like 10 11 and 18 had been made to long now they appear to be knocking shortish irons in again add what Bubba and Rory did to 13 and it is so obvious that we need to get hold of golfball technology or tricked up greens is the only defense they will have. You cant keep extending forever.

I found it very refreshing to see an unconventional golfer like Bubba winning again. The completion missed Tiger's presence. Despite the TV coverage he usually gets he is still good value. Tiger and Bubba in the final pairing would have been lively, but as it was, the best I can say is that it was an interesting game, especially the way that the opposition back-pedalled.

Fallen out of love with watching golf on the box recently and the weekends coverage hasn't really reignited any desire to watch it again anytime soon... Well done to Bubba and that's about all I have to say about it...
