I've just got back from clearing the driving range and it was freezing!!!! Had my waterproofs on with a windstopper underneath, a Galvin skullcap and a woolly hat on top of that, couldn't find my gloves so my hands froze.....

Got me thinking about what's the best things to wear on really cold days when the wind blows. Do you wear your waterproofs, a lined jumper or some layering system such as Under Armour or Galvin Green? Would you wear gloves that you can play golf in to keep your hands warm or rather use mitts in between shots?

Now you're taking me back a few years Brrrr
Normal golf gear + jumper + full waterproofs + coat + cap AND wooly hat + gloves and mittens and was still cold.
I used to hate collecting the balls in the dark

Waterproof trousers will go on from now on unless it's a nice day on a links course (keeps out the cold and stops trousers from getting muddy round ankles)

Long sleeve base layer (Nike or UA)
Long sleeve FJ shirt
Beanie
Short sleeve rain top if it's a bit colder
Waterproof jacket if it's really cold
Handwarmers in pockets
Mitts in between shots if really cold.

I tend to leave the waterproof top as an absolute last result. I use under armour base layer, a good quality roll neck, and a jumper on top. If its really cold I'll add a polo shirt too. I have a decent wooly hat and use some mitts between shots. I'll happily wear waterproof trousers to keep the legs warm and because the grass (especially the rough) is so wet now. I've also got a nice fur lined pair of trousers from Glenmuir that are the business at keeping the legs cosy

What RB said although I dont use a waterproof but a long sleeve windstopper instead

Bunch o puffs! :p

A t-shirt and tank top normally if it gets really cold will stick on the base layer, was just saying today that might need to think about digging out the wooly hat instead of the peaked number.

Im one of these players that hate layers of clothing,so i tend to warm up a lot more before i start and wear less.If its raining its generally warmer so just a golf shirt and waterproofs, and of course trousers.

Normal keks, polo and shoes.
Played at the weekend, bright and cool so slipped on a lambswool sweater. Felt warm but not too hot.

Come the cold weather (ie winter) I'll probably wear the same clothes as above plus maybe add a waterproof top and a woolie hat.
Generally dispense with the hat as the round goes on as I warm up pretty well.
I do have some nice Callaway mitts, usually reside in a storage box in the garage, never worn them as I am normally blessed with perma-warm hands. If they get a bit cold then they go in the pockets in between shots!

Funny climate aint it?
Seems like only last week we were knocking balls down hard fairways onto hard greens in polo's and shorts.....This week we're talking Base Layers and thermals.....

Anyhoo.......I wear my wet pants with a thermal base layer underneath as a pants can be a little cumbersome with them......On top its a base layer and polo and if its really cold it'll be a jumper and short sleeve wind breaker....Mitts btween shots with hand warmers inside them as i suffer with chillblains in the winter and a disease known as Raynauds Disease where the blood drains form the fingers.......

Try holding only a club when that happens.......Not only couyld i be shouting FORE for a wayward golfball but it could be a case of "WATCH OUT ALSO FOR THE ROTATING 3 iRON THATS COMING AFTER IT"

I wore my roll neck at the weekend, teed off on a chilly morning, by early afternoon I was roasting... Bad times

C'mon weather make up your mind already!

Lambswool sweater & t shirt ifs it's butter I might add a base layer. Beenie all the way and mitts on bitter days. I hate to many layers

Mum used to sew you into your clothes for winter after covering with goose grease in the old days then? :D

Base Layer Top
GG Insula Fleece
Base Layer Leggings
Waterproof Trousers
Beanie

If it's really really cold, then mitts, handwarmers and possibly my waterproof jacket.
