Hello all

I told myself that when i got down to single figures i would change over to better player irons or forged irons. Well its come around im off 9. Playing everyday in the holidays and want to get down to 7. Is there any suggestions on forged/better players clubs. Keep two things in mind.

1. I'm 14, so i'm not loaded but i do have paper round that earns me £20 a week.

2. It will probably be second hand.

Look forward to hear replies. :)

I guess it depends on a) how much money you have saved, b) your re-sale value of your current set and c) whether mum and dad may help out.

My advice is to try and narrow down your wish list and then try and get to hit them and see how they feel. Other than that trawl through the internet and see what is on offer.

Why.. The Clubs you have been using have got you there so give them a chance. Wait another year or so before splashing out.

Last thing you want is to lose your game with new clubs that aren't as forgiving as you think.

Been there, done that, got the badge ;)

My advice is why change, these clubs got you there so why spend all that money when the clubs you have have got you there. I did exactly the same and sometimes wish i hadn't bothered.

My friend (a 15 year old 6 handicapper) uses Ping S59's and hits them awesome.

These are about 3 years old so you should be able to pick them up second hand for about £200?

Not the most informative advice I know, sorry. Anyway, all the best.

Good point Brendy, A good putter you have conmfidence in and good wedges and that should help your scores drop further.

By the way i have callaway big berthas.

Do you hit a lot of hooks? If so, the offset might start to annoy.

Other than that.....why change.

My old, old pro played with big berthas....good enough for him, good enough for anyone down to low/scratch.

Firstly well done on getting down to nine and my advice would be to try out as many irons as you can and if possible get custom fitted my recommendation would be mizuno mp-67s check them out!
