looking to improve on my clubs. irons and putter are fine, looking to upgrade my driver, woods.

not sure where to start or how many i need?

i'm thinking driver with 3 or 5 wood, then i see hybrids with all variations of loft.

i'd like to stay to 10.5 driver

cheers

I am currently mixing and matching my set but a lot of people go for the following

Driver,3w,2/3hybrid (19/20 degrees), 4 hybrid (23/24 degrees) then 5 iron up.

the other set up I see is

Driver,3w,5w,3h 21 deegrees, 4 iron up.

I wouldn't bother with what's stamped on the hybrid 2,3 or 4 just go with the loft.

I've got what might be considered the traditional set up of driver, 3 and 5w with a 3hybrid replacing the 3 iron of old. In the summer I do tend to play around and sometimes drop the hybrid and add a wedge.

I have driver, 5 wood and 3 hybrid in the bag at the moment. I am toying with adding a 3 wood as i have space for one more club in my bag and am happy with my wedge set up.

I used to go driver , 4 wood 3 20 deg hybrid..... Whatever suits your game best! My mate has driver, 3-pw, 52 and 56 and he plays off 8. He does hit his 3 iron like a rocket though....

Depends what you mean by 'upgrade', but you could well be looking at the wrong end of your bag.

Short irons and wedges are your scoring clubs, so make sure you these set up to cover shots from 120yds in - particularly < 80!

Then see what scope you have at the top end - and perhaps for particular holes, if you are a member with long-ish Par 3s.

My hybrids are actually perfect for specific holes (normally) - as well as being flexible in other areas. I can take some of either to cover a wider range than f I tried that with a 5W (or 7W) but some folk get on better with woods than hybrids.

I've parked the 60* but it will return when the ground gets firmer.

i just joined my first club last week, only played public last 5 years on and off. i felt the holes were longer than i expected, my second shots seem too far away to do any damage with an iron shot. i mean update my driver as it was a pretty basic one to see me through last seasons golf.

in bag - wilson di7's (4 to sw)

wilson 10.5 driver

wilson 15 3 wood

wilson putter

possible new clubs- driver? woods/hybrids? 60* wedge?

Make sure you have a solid tee option, leave the driver for open safe holes only if you are just starting! I suggest a hybrid or 3 wood.

Also there is really no need for a multitude of wedges, just get a nice even gap loft wise from 9 iron (make sure you look it up!) down to a 54-58* wedge. I go 9 (43*), PW (47*), 52* and 56*. I admit my 52 should be a 51 but it does not matter as I spent lots of time working out the yardages for half and 3/4 shots to fill the yardage gaps.

Agree with ignoring the number on hybrids, look at the loft. I carry a 3i(21*) and a 3h (18*) to get the 3* loft difference I need.

I don't have a lob wedge and I carry a 3 wood as a tee option, along with the 3h. The driver comes out when I have less than a 20% chance of finding big trouble.
