Ours is tonight and no idea what to expect?

First year as a member so ill give it a go. How many go to theres? Is it worth while?

Im guessing itll be a lot of old boys complaining about the price of the drink??
Hopefully therell be no mention of my attendance at the winter league dinner without a tie.....

Hi you should have had an AGM booklet sent out to you showing everything that is being discussed, usually all about money, however there is sometimes something juicy thrown in there that causes consternatuion among the members and requires a vote, that swells the numbers and either it is voted down or taken of the agend at the start and it becomes a damp squib.....or am i being cynical :)

First AGM, best to just go and watch and listen and learn. Save the deep questions until you know more about the running of the club

Went to the first few out of a sense of duty. Got bored with the politics and in-fighting and so as long as the balance sheet we get before the event looks healthy or there is something I really feel I need to hear about or get off my chest I don't tend to bother these days

Normally go to our AGM. Last year it was just laying down the club finances and what was spent where and the plan for the coming year. Bit of controversy when they were talking about shutting one of the courses for drainage work but it was essential and eventually everyone was glad they did it. It's good to go and get some info on what's "really" going on, not just the stuff in the monthly newsletter.

Numbers were pretty poor. Maybe 40 max. Was suprised by this as we have just had a big refurb of the clubhouse and theres still a few more phases of work planned.

AGM did seem to be a big pat yourself on the back exercise between those on the management committee and the captains/presidents old and new. No b!tching at all and suprisingly little or no talk about the actual course...

Pretty much sums up every AGM i've ever been to

So its either running rather well, or not as the case may be. But 'the powers that be' think that it is wonderfull!

The course should be the number one priority (other than the financials). Do you have any thoughts regards the current state of the course?

Generally happy enough with the course. Was weeks on end over the winter where we only had 13 or 15 holes open but could see it was for the greater good.

Although would have liked to hear a plan of what to do to those holes so that they dont have to close for weeks on end.

As it was my first year i took the earlier advice of sitting back and taking it all in.

I did want to speak up about better use of social media. The club have both fb and twitter but seem to use it solely to put photos of the new clubhouse or send updates on how a member is getting on on the tour.

Updates of holes and course closures, planned work and competition results would be more useful imo, but maybe thats not good PR!!!
