Clean air zones

You can next to any main Rd, the M25 is awful when you are walking around Belhus if the winds in the wrong direction. That’s not in the ULEZ thought.

All part of the bigger picture tho

Emissions improve over time

South crossing gets built

Silvertown gets built

Pollution in Havering reduces as the traffic is more evenly spread

Just drove out and our local camera has been sabotaged. Looked like a paintball or some white paint over the lense.

But generally traffic does not get evenly spread, it gets concentrated in particular areas.

Look at all the schemes in london with residential roads blocked off at certain times, all this does is force all the traffic down specific roads.

I suppose as more cars become zero emissions EV’s that isn’t an air quality issue, but don’t get me started on congestion in these areas 🙄

Those projects I mention will clean up Dartford and Thurrock for sure

Things coming up the A2 that cause the delays at Dartford will cross at the new lower crossing rather than go all the way up , thus spreading the traffic

Silvertown will take pressure off aswell

LTN Are different, however you don't overly hear complaints for residents of them. They seem to enjoy their safer roads to the rat runs before

Public money to fix it tho ... Pointless exercise of childish behaviour

It’s vandalism. However, too often we see comments about the British not protesting strongly enough, as the French do. I appreciate it’s a representative democracy but is Khan representing the majority of voters. Yes, he has a duty of care to his constituents but I’ve a niggling feeling he overstepped the mark on this. And having 2 asthmatic children(long since flown the nest), and an asthmatic (ex) wife who was hospitalised due to poor air quality, I’m well aware of the risks - we chose to move to open countryside.

Less than 10% of vehicles are non-compliant. Bearing in mind that it is the less well off who have older cars, and it is the more well off that are likely to have compliant vehicles and/or be more able to pay the charges, ULEZ unfairly punishes the less well off. Why spend millions on putting in and managing the network when many of the non-compliant vehicles would ‘die a natural death’ anyway? At best, it’s a diminishing return.

We don't protest enough which is true however this is just morons plain and simple.

The air quality in London is shocking

Like you say 10% of cars don't meet it in the borough's however more traveling from just outside don't meet it

Rather than lobbying the correct channels for proper scrapping scheme people just want to cause problems

Just like the outter borough's spend millions in public money to lose a case to stop ulez

That money could have been put towards helping your constituency members who don't have a car afford one rather than just writing it off

People say it's the less well off but it's not, as a lot of the less well off drive a perfectly good petrol car . It's only the pre 2016 diesels that struggle , post 2002 petrols are much much more common

We’ve been 4 adults and 2 suitcases for a few days away several times.

How many times do you charge your EV, and at what cost? Just trying to get a feel for costs for when we change in a few years time…
Mrs d's Nissan Leaf doesn't cost anything at all to run. We get home and put this plug, that someone kindly put on our front wall, into the front of the car and in the morning we unplug it and drive where we want to, and no charge from any garage forecourt ever !😁

Yeah, but where it all falls down for you is that have to remember to plug it in...... ;)

Because it results in far fewer polluting vehicles entering the zone. Which is about air quality.

Colleague of mine has a very simple lifestyle, no kids. Simple pleasures of driving this old Merc that looks like a South African dictators car

Anyways we have been ulez for couple years

Did he change his car? Nope

He just pays the charge every day .. at least the money goes to improving the air quality overall in better out borough transport, and making tfl more green etc

I have to admit he is crazy because for the cash he could literally lease a brand new car and run it but he isn't interested

For a single person I can recommend an electric scooter (like Vesper, not like a kick scooter).
For a journey zone 6 to Oxford Circus I have a 34 mile round trip, using just under 3 kWh (£0.85ish) in electricity instead of paying £15 for public transport.
Going into year 3 now meaning the bike is paid off if I would have bought annual travel cards instead.

I thought the majority didn’t want the ULEZ expansion until the poison dwarf excluded some votes

The shocking truth about the capitals air quality. Allegedly. Wouldn’t test it myself as I’ve no need to go there ever.
Interesting two part series none the less.
Someone get their own off Amazon and test theirselves!

What about the clown who originally brought in ulez and forced its expansion to the 406? He free from any attack ?

People don't like it because it's khan

People don't like khan for various reasons .

Lot of deliveroo type drivers use electric cycles now as opposed to mopeds to keep the costs down , makes the emissions drop for sure
