Church Stretton incident I just saw on Facebook

Everyone involved seems to be a bit, well, odd? I’ve also seen it cropping up on instagram and the instagram account of the guys complaining is frankly bizarre. But the people from the club seem just as odd.

Sadly, this ridiculous spat crops up on a couple of my social media feeds, and every time I see it I have to stop myself from commenting.

The two protagonists come across as a pair of obnoxious, entitled pillocks but, as Jonny says above, the club don’t come across a lot better.

It’s the members of the club I feel for, because this petty rubbish is painting their club in an awful light.

Insta reel poppped up and remembered this thread bizarrely the saga continues

Madness it’s gone on this long 😂
Yep, two and a half years later and absolutely nothing has changed. I still follow the guy's account (it has changed names to 'thegolfcops' as you see here), simply because I never stopped, and every few weeks they post another video. Often I would swear it's a repost of an old one I've seen, but no, it's the same people having the same arguments again and again. It's effectively the LIV thread from here but in real life.

this pops up on my insta feed as well.
the guy who posts it wont share these "discrimination allegations" so its hard to get on his side, as he comes accross as a petty d*ck to be honest
why he thinks hes entitled to honorary membership to a club he sued, and then wants to go back and play is beyond me.
im guessing he just likes to wind them up because it'd royally piss me off

I have seen bits, the old guy who supports him used to be on the committee and claims the discrimination from the others was 'age discrimination' because they called him a child or a boy or something. All very silly.

Didn’t he win his discrimination case against the club?

They would be better off just letting him play than making themselves look like idiots.
It seems like he's jibbing on without paying anyway so they might as well take his money! I think if they just allowed him to play for a green fee he'd get bored of the frosty atmosphere he gets and move on before very long. Their stubbornness is simply fueling him more.

i saw something that the clubs insurance company couldnt be bothered to fight it and just compensated him.

why would you want to let someone who sued your club (and assume cost you money) keep playing??

If i was this guy I would just walk away and forget the club. All these petty posts and confrontations are daft. He isn't wanted there so move on and play somewhere else. If he had actually cared about the outcome then he shouldn't have gone down the route of proceedings against the club etc.

Agreed.

Aside from anything else, life is too short to waste time trying to play golf at a club where you’re simply not wanted, just to try and prove a point.

Insurance companies aren’t in the habit of paying up without good reason.

There's a calculation around cost of legal fees v cost of payout. If the payout is cheaper and the case isn't 100% then they will definitely think about it.
Even when they think the case is very solid, they still think about costs they cannot recover. They often find it difficult to claim costs in cases they successfully defend.
