Some of you will know that HID started playing golf towards the end of last summer. She's had half a dozen lessons and plays 9 holes once a week at a local course with a couple of other beginers. I've not played golf with her for about 6 weeks or so, and when I do it's 9 or 11 holes round my track.

She is on the membership waiting list at my place, and this week got onto the reserve list (a lot of nagging the secretary from me), this means she can play the course for £10 (and hopefully get in next January). To celebrate we went out for 9 holes last night. As I said, I've not played with her for a while, and was gobsmaked at how she's hitting the ball. I knew she was playing well, but when I added up the card she played the front nine (par 37 for the ladies) in 46, there were no fluky shots, infact she was unlucky a couple of times, and every hole the ball hit the bottom of the cup, with no gimmies.

Now for someone who's been playing less than a year, and has only played 18 holes twice, I'm starting to get worried she'll be taking all my money on the golf course as well......But as the title said, I'm chuffed to bits for her, and very proud.

Will be good to get all the ladies on here together for a forum day of their own. I know where my money is going!! My wife had lessons and played a few 9 holes but she got bored and frustrated and ended up giving it up again.

That is fantastic, especially around your course as it is quite a hard track. I cant believe thay are making her wait, most clubs are actively encouraging women to join. If they are not careful other clubs will be after her!! She sounds like she is going to be a natural.

Great news for you fella, pass on the congratulations to the Mrs.

I wish mine would play golf with me, I've asked her a few times to come for a round, her reply is that if I go to one of her aerobics classes, she will go to a golf lesson.

I really don't want to go to aerobics !!

Nice one Mrs TG. That old saying has a new spin...if you can't be him, join him. Then beat him!

My wife has no interest whatsoever in Golf and long may it continue! I am very happy that I have my interests and she has hers. It works for us.

I do see the attraction in it though, especially if your kids are also involved. A family of 4 play regularly on a sunday at our place. Lovely stuff. Maybe one day...

Now call me an old sceptic but, I've been with my 'better' half 25 years now and I recognise the signs! She's stood behind you with the rolling pin hovering as you write isnt she???? Come on, you can tell us!!! :D :D
( Well done Mrs! Only joking!)

Uh-Oh....looks like i'm the only one here that wouldn't have my Mrs come within a 5 mile radius of where i'm playing /practising!!!!
The golf club is my very last sanctuary (well that and footie every other Saturday) and i'd last about 2 minutes of her telling me where i'm going wrong and if i were her what i would do!!!

I once saw a sticker on the back of a van - For Sale, full set of encyclopedias, not needed anymore as wife knows absolutely everything!

*Note to all feminists on the board.......i don't care what you think! :p
