China bans 88million members from playing golf.

Just been reading about the Chinese government has banned its members from joining golf clubs, and buying moon cakes.
Apparantly when they were over here earlier this week telling us they were the right people to work with, the British government mentioned human rights to the Chinese.
Really took notice of that one.
would not of thougt that being a golfer made you a "bad man".
Unless they read some of the comments on this forum 😁

Me, I reckon Chinese spy's were monitoring the winter postings and, proof if proof were needed, that golfers are "Bad men and women" and how right they are to ban the evil sport!

Reading the piece on the BBC site, a guy who owns a shop in Shangai said his business had dropped 30% in the last year. He said that why would company directors now want to play golf when party members who have influence could now not play with them.

I believe it's partly to do with them trying to clean up their image. A lot of shady deals have been done by members of the communist party over the years, and a lot of those were done in places like golf clubs. So by banning all golf club membership they are evidently trying to stop the corruption.

The Party leadership must have sneaked on here, read the average drive length and thought "We'll save our 88 million members the embarrassment of having an average carry of <275yards off the tee....golf is now banned !"
