Cheltenham Festival 2013

Afternoon all

Less than 3 weeks now until the Festival starts and I'll be there all week again this year. I really cannot wait. Just wondered who else was heading down and if anyone has any fancies or decent antepost bets.

I've got a few that will win me decent 3 figure amounts.

Simonsig @ 3/1
Hurricane Fly @ 6/1
Sprinter Sacre @ 6/4

But have about 12 antepost bets which are all set to run and have shortened (some less than others) and should win me a couple of hundred each.

I was really hoping to see Big Bucks win again this year and had about £300 on him at 6/4 but thats the joys of antepost punting.

Dont go to it as such but usally am over for a couple of days during Cheltenham week and traffic/hotels even up as far as Pershore are surprisingly busy.

Traffic is horrendous in gloucester during race week. The hotel I moonlight at is full as a full thing.

Literally like a kid counting down to Xmas

Got the week booked off, but unfortunately wont be heading down this year (1st time in 5 years il of missed it!)

Instead its the local for some pre racing grub, followed by a vast amount of alcohol and lots of losers


Havent got any AP bets on but fancy;

Cue Card for the RyanAir
Grandouet for the Champion Hurdle
Imperial Commander (E/W) for Gold Cup - cracking reappearance

I can't wiait for this festival, I'm there Tuesday/Wednesday upto now but if my bets oblige I'm staying the whole week!

Last year I done loads of multiple ante post bets, all of them including Hurricane Fly which cost me for thousands :sad:

This year I've done mainly single bets ante post with a few small Yankees,Trebles and doubles.

My main punt this year is Sir Des Champs for the Gold Cup and I'm on at prices from.8/1-7/2 including doubles/Trebles with Golantilla and Quevega.

I've not got as much on Hurricane Fly now as I'd liked to have but I can't wait to see this machine fly up that hill 4 lengths ahead of Zarkander : grin:

Dodging bullets in the supreme will hopefully get me off the mark but it will be tough against the Henderson monster My Tent Or Yours.

Cheltenham is my Christmas

I was there last year aswell, I had a double Alfie Sherrin/Hurricane Fly aswell as numerous multiple bets that included 'Fly/Quevega/champagne fever/big bucks. That losing cost me ££££'s last year and I've been a lot more wiser this year to what I put into multiples.

This year Mullins has got 'Fly working like he was in 2011 and he even said he wasn't happy with how he wad leading upto last year's race.

This year he'll be fine tuned to the minute to win this race.

Golantilla in the bumper is the way to get rich this year

Birmingham mate, my mate runs a boozer near villa park so we'll get the last train from Cheltenham back there.

Its way too expensive to stay in Cheltenham over the festival. It's usually always fully booked by September aswell.

You're not wrong. Prices are ridiculous, even in gloucester.

Haven't played golf since The Blackmoor day in october :-/

It's jump racing that's not suited to firm ground unlike flat racing. The jump season usually starts around October to .beginning of April.

Hopefully the weather's kind and its dry for when Sir Des Champs scoots up that famous hill 3lengths clear of Long Run to win the Gold Cup!
