Chelsea fan. Who should I blame?

Bit of a weirdo set-up as a football 'club' anyway. Seemed/seems very much the Italy/Spanish/Portuguese model of acquiring/choosing a team and melding it rather than building one up.

Owner appears to have (had) a lot of influence over day-to-day team matters, so Manager is somewhat hamstrung in the first place. AVB doesn't seem to have the respect needed from players, so I see him being ditched pretty soon. I'd heard it was a clash between RW and Abramovich about Abramovich's knowledge that led to RW leaving.

As Chelsea seems the most popularly supported team at work, there are some sad folk after match days. We West Ham followers can get a season's emotions in a single game, so are pretty used to depression! Now for a decent result against Cardiff tomorrow. Away form seems great, so...

Until Abramovich gets some decent advice and is told that to build decent side takes time and not just cash the problem is going to continue. Too many players at the end stages of their careers or looking like they don't want to be there and it will take any manager time to bring in the players he wants to shape the side. Abramovich simply wants success now. It doesn't happen like that. We all know Fergie was a few games away from the sack but they stuck with him and he hasn't done too bad.

I do think AVB has lost the dressing room now and it'll be interesting to see who lasts longest to make the next move. If AVB is given more time then Drogba, Torres, Terry and Lampard may be surplus to requirements and he may get shot. If AVB is sacked the new manager may get the likes of Lampard and Drogba back onside and get a few more decent seasons out of them albeit in a dminishing role and not as guaranteed starters

Worrying times for you, they are in freefall at the moment.
Don't be so hard on yourself.....let's face it you could be a Rangers fan.

Rumours sweeping Scotland that they may actually go out of business by the end of next week and they are going to be hit with a 60 point deduction due to the third party contract fiasco..my heart bleeds.(see what I did there?!):whoo:

Be careful what you wish for, celtic could go the same way if they did, once the new Tv deal comes up for re-negotiation.

Shouldn't wish for anyone to go bust.

Chelsea's problems, IMHO:

Scolari, Avram Grant and Ancelotti kept the status quo going of allowing Lampard, Terry and Drogba a lot of of influence in the dressing room. It was ok when they were younger and still fantastic players (and winning trophies), but they have all aged and lost some form together over the last 1-2 seasons. This has led to a lack of opportunities for young up and coming or new players into the Chelsea team.

Abramovic should have backed Ancellotti or even Grant, who nearly won them a European cup, but due to his obsessive lust to win the Champs league, means he hasn't had any patience with them, despite getting to finals and semi-finals nearly every year. Also shouldn't have undermined Ancelotti by sacking Wilkins.

He will get them back up there again by giving a new manager £200 million, but it may not be enough this time , what with Man City and Fergie still getting the best out of a Man U side, which does not have a vintage midfield (or does?).

Anyway, my team has more than enough problems ............

Why would we go bust if tv money was reduced? The club would cut it's cloth accordingly as has been done many times recently by us but not by them.

Personally I couldn't give a flying feck if they go tits up.

I'm not saying you would but TV revenue is one of the biggest incomes in football now, sometimes even more than what comes through the turnstiles. 4 less old firm games, plus cup games (all full houses). I doubt the other teams (not including Celtic) would do as well in Europe, so the co-efficients would change. May then mean the league winners (Celtic 19 out of 20 times) would have to start in the champs league 3rd round qualifiers.

I think within 5 years Celtic would be playing in front of less than 30,000 each week, due to lack of interest, which would not help to pay off that big (brilliant) stadium.

Just the slippery slope.....

I would be willing to take the chance. Our game is fecked anyhow, this might just get a re-structuring that is sorely needed.........or may lead to something else that would benefit Celtic.

The Stadium is paid for by the way.

Prem by any chance? Personally I am one of the minority who would welcome the Scottish clubs (all of them) into the football league and Prem. I think it would freshen our leagues up.

Fair play on the stadium, I thought it would have been over a 20-30 year mortgage. Was it cheap? I know Sunderland did theirs on the cheap a few years ago(16 mill, I think), without much "filigree". Any plans to knock down the old (new) main stand. I've seen LFC play there about 10 times, but my first time was when you still had the big terraced ends, as well as the jungle. The main stand was the new stand then.

We've been quoted 350mill plus for our potential new stadium.

Erm, wasn't this about Chelsea....sorry.

Can I also suggest:-

1. AVB needs to stop wearing women's bingo coats.
2. He also needs to invent a new knot for wearing scarves, ala Mourinho.

Abramovich will tire very soon of the constant hassle. AVB was a mistake for me; like Imurg wrote above, being a winner in Portugal means nothing, their league is not much better than the Scottish one in terms of depth and strength. He knows nothing about basic leadership and has just sought to alienate some of the natural leaders in the team. Teams at that level don't really do transition - they are permanently in transition and should be moving players in and out all the time (in the scheme of a master plan though, not willy nilly as you have done for the past few seasons).

Cost about £23m to £25m if memory serves me right, then immediately revalued on completion to about £50m. Its was done with loads of regeneration grants as it was one the site of the main pit. There was loads of work to clean up and stabilise the site prior to the work on the stadium which is why the qualified for the grants. We'd rather have bought a decent striker at the time!!

The problem with football as a whole is that it is financially unsustainable unless your club has a sugar daddy
like The Russians or the Arabs who dont mind losing millions.

the whole thing needs a complete restructure, the players are paid too much, the smaller clubs are in dire straits , not many clubs are in the black

I blame Ashley Cole for everything

Fragger

Abramovich must shoulder much of the blame with what has/is going wrong at Chelsea...

He appoints high profile managers then seeks to undermine/destabilise them... Which inevitably saps confidence of all those involved with the club which is often clear to see on the pitch...

It may sound weird but I think missing out on top 4 would be good for Chelsea, I think it would finally make abramovich realise that major reform is needed at Chelsea. I reckon Drogba will go at the end of the season, terry might get canned for the racist thing. They should shift Lampard, he's had his time now. How long are they going to persevere with Torres who seems allergic to the goal... They should get mceachran playing in midfield, Sturridge leading the attack with mata, cahill and luiz at the back... I have a feeling abramovich will go berserk in the transfer window, I heard he's considering offering 85 million for hulk?! This still won't solve the problem though, and with financial fair play setting in Chelsea are going to have to be careful. This transition could take years, but I think if abramovich learns to have some patience Chelsea could be a real threat in a few years, oh and I think avb will be gone if they don't get champions league, I don't think he's a great manager but he's not terrible and I think anyone would struggle to "manage" the overpaid egos in that dressing room
