Before anybody moans at this post I have had Permission from Mike at GM Towers.

I have had an e-mail from West Midlands Golf Club asking me to sign an e-petition which in turn will lobby the Government to reduce the VAT on all sports, both watched and played.

If you feel the cause worthwhile please sign the petition via the link below

Great idea.

Agree with brendy though. the vat would just be added on to something else. Put it on fags is what I say.

Mind you, maybe they should just take vat off everything (fuel, food, clothes) and lump it on fags.

You got my vote !!!!! Oh, and caravans too!!!! :D

Sorry guys - I respect the fact that we need to pay taxes - IMHO we should pay a fair amount and the govenment should introduce efficienvcy savings - somthing they are supposed to be doing now - however, don't get me started on tax credits and the housing benifit farce :-)

Thanks but after some consideration I am oout!

i woudl be happy to see this if I thought for a minute that it would reduce prices. I suspect though that the prices would remain exactly the same in a lot of cases and the VAT reduction would be pocketed as extra profit.

As per the 15% vat rate - increased the deficit but very few retailers used it to introduce discounts - and then many cut staff with the profitability excuse.

The VAT rate on the service industry has been reduced in the ROI and from what I have heard the industry is beginning to look better than it has been for the last few years - so it may work but I personally dont think it will.

Nice idea but is it really going to make a difference?
A £50 ticket + vat = £60
At the new rate it would be £52.50......So you can spend the £7.50 you save on a Hot-Dog....

Might save you £100 off your Golf but you'd only spend that extra £2 a week on a side bet or Coffee......
