I'm going to the handicap secretary tomorrow to make a complaint but first just wanted clarification on a rule.

Player 'A' is due to tee off at 8:00. On arrival he notices the 8:15 group are one man down and decides to join them instead because 2 of them are his good mates.
This is a drawn and board competition.

What rule does this break please (oh, and we have no starter durring the winter)

What are you going to complain about ?

Does it really matter if he wants to play with his mates ?

I'm not sure what exactly rule it would break because don't think it will break a rule of golf - maybe a condition of the comps but players always drop out and players move around to fill the gaps.

If as you say it's a board comp and part of the conditions are that the comp is drawn then I personally think you have every right to bring it to the attention of the comps committee or whoever runs the comp.

To me it's no different than a player being drawn early but deciding he doesn't want to play with who he was drawn with and fills in at the back.

Our conditions would state if it was a drawn comp and if it happened it would be a Dq.

The three players in question are ''suspected" of wrong doing. They only seem to score well when they play together. Plus, i was asked to be drawn with my friend as we share a lift and was told "no"

And phil, you have been quoted saying " rules are rules with no exceptions" this is a rule breaker.

Would need to check with the conditions of the competition and also in the comps rules if people are able to fill in gaps

As for the first bit - are the comp committee aware but then would they actually do anything about it

Yes need to check the rules set by the comp committee if they allow people to move tee times on the day - we allow it if it fills gaps and it doesn't leave a single player.

Without proof they can't do anything. it was brought up at our last agm. They said all board comps will be drawn to prevent such "clicks" playing together

But then they drew two of them together ?

Your committee don't seem to be very clear - even more so if they refused you to play with a friend.

Our committee is one bloke :-). Most of the members weren't happy when they saw the two of them together. When it became 3 heads started popping off.!!!!!

That one bloke needs a committee as directed by congu ?! Open to all sorts of issues as can see with your club champs

No doubt he will do nothing about the person moving tee slot then

If it was bought up on the AGM it must be minuted, you have grounds for complaint. If they don't listen and act on your complaint and you want to ratch it up a level your are within your rights to go to county. That is up to you and if you are certain of your facts that's what you should inform the committee that is what your going to do. If it wasn't and it's not in the competition terms then your stuck as too often some committees will go for the "don't rock the boat" approach.

In all fairness to the bloke he has taken on the role this year from being a past member. This years club champs were spot on and he is trying to deal with some of the problems. He's done a great job so far and i anticipate he will be very interested upon hearing the goings on tomorrow

Oh I'm sure. Player 'a' was supposed to be in my group!!

I did ask him why he was changing group and he joked saying " Muslim brotherhood "

That's not a committee that's a recepie for disaster, can't some of you offer to join.

We have asked but getting the belfry to agree to anything that isn't profit related is hard. 30 million on a hotel and they won't spend £600 on one of them computer touch screen thingy's you enter your score on 😀

I thought if you wanted to change your tee time in a comp you had to inform and get permission from the committee prior to teeing off. Penalty for not doing so is DQ.

You don't need to spend any money to form a committee. You also don't need a touch screen to form a committee.
