Just a heads up...........

their BB is fantastic:thup:

their tv planner takes a bit of getting used to but its ok eventually

they don't charge for HD content (they say in their marketing)

their TV image quality is better than SKY's especially on the terrestial channels

heres the rub- wanted SKY sports in HD for all the great golf coming up starting with the US Open....

guess what....they don't do HD for SP 3 and 4 (the golf channels), and they are more expensive than SKY for SP:angry:

very dissapointing- will be switching back to SKY when the contract runs out (but I'll keep the BB)

Found that out when we moved into the new house in December. To be honest though for the BB, TV etc I can live without HD for SS3 & 4 even if it does mean not seeing the golf in that format

Sky dictate the pricing and availability of the channels to other operators !

The swapping and changing of the golf between the channels is one of the reasons I don't bother paying for it. If they decided to show it one channel and always show it on that channel then I would subscribe to just that channel, but they move it about on various days to ensure you pay for all of them !!

Minor irritation not having hd on ss3 or 4!!!!

Overall a much better service than sky!

once you watch the golf in HD on a very good TV you cant go back, well I cant:rolleyes: I also cant get Sky news in HD or the E channel for SWMBO

I've got virgin

Broadband is very good

And the TV service is good although we had a bit carry on other week and they sent engineer out and was sorted straight away

Customer service is helpful and very good

Thumbs up from me

All the golf this year has been on sky sports 4. Although I'm not sure if you can choose just to subscribe to that one channel.

Golf and football are the main reasons I pay for Sky HD. I think it makes a big difference with sports.

This must be a fairly recent change, as used to be shown on 3/4 on the Thursday or Friday and then move to 2 on sat and sun.

.... and yes you can't buy 3/4 separately on virgin, only 1/2 can be purchased independently.

You get BTSports for free on virgin, it's far better than Sky, without a doubt. And no ugly dish on the wall.

Switched to Virgin a few months back. The non-HD channels appear to suffer less signal degradation than the non-HD channels received via satellite. The picture quality on SS4, via Virgin, isn't great but it is better than the non-HD via sat.

Its nice to have BT sport for the extra footie, and no loss of signal when there's a storm. But I do miss Sky Atlantic.

Pretty much echo all of that, but as we switched before Sky Atlantic existed we don't miss that. Does look to have some good series but we can't keep up with all the other stuff on planner, so probably just as well that we don't :o. We knew we could only get Sky Sports 1 & 2 HD when we switched, but the switch to keep the golf on SS4 is a recent one, can only assume Virgin are gaining too many customers for Sky's liking and Virgin's customer care knocks Sky into a cocked hat.

Ss3 and 4 will be HD on virgin around Dec this year.

Where did you get that from if you don't mind me asking? Good news if correct, don't mind too much most of the time but it does hack me off when the golf is in SD & the Premier League darts is in HD

directly from Virgin CS as they would 'like' me to stay, but I want HD now not after the season is over.

They also don't have Sky Atlantic, so if you're a fellow Game Of Thrones nut...

That's why we have Torrent websites or friends to lend you the dvd box set

Been a Virgin customer for around 11 years and never had a problem. Some of the none HD channels have poor picture quality but to be honest it doesn't bother me that much.

I much prefer virgin than sky

TiVo is awesome, broadband is fantastic and the TV packages are great (but then I don't do sky sports as I can't stand football)

Golf would be nice but I can live without it (catching the open etc on bbc is good enough for me)

All this coming from a guy who hasn't had service for 2 weeks because the gas board numptys dug up our road and cut into the virgin cable

Sky go and the golf in HD are the only things that stop me switching to virgin, i have their telephone and internet and have had it for almost 20 years but their TV has never been a patch on what sky do but it's getting better.
