Hope this format kicks off. It's a different format I think could increase interest in the game and make it a bit less frigid.

Is that the best the US could come up with? Theres a host of American players eligible for the European tour![]()
Because they are more than likely over in the US either playing in the Wells Fargo ( 7.5 mill dollars prize ) or preparing for the Players ( 10mil dollars prize fund )
As opposed to playing in windy cold England and just for a couple of days and 6 holes ! - it's a gimmick and the player list shows the level of interest - is there any top 50 player in it ?
What you've got to remember is that this is the first time this has been done on the European tour so I think they've done well to get the interest they have in the event from the tour pros.
I'm sure it will attract the 'bigger names' in years to come.
It's difficult when the schedule is already packed with the 2 big comps in the states in the 2 weeks (wells Fargo and players)
The ET have only had 3 no the to plan this new concept too.

That looks like the course is in fabulous condition
I'm can say with confidence that the bigger names won't ever come , they don't even turn up for the PGA at Wentworth.
The prize money , the format , the weather , the timing - all things that will keep the main players away.
The tour pros playing will be the ones who couldn't get into the US Events - there is no other event so they will enter - hence the list on show.
It's imo a format that just won't ever work in golf.
Nothing like positivity and applauding the tour to try and find a way and format to grow the game which is something you've gone about on many occasions. It's not in an ideal slot at the moment but I'm sure with some solid sponsorship backing this could be an idea that could be moved about and grow. The Perth event worked quite well
You have to applaud the tour for trying to be different and bring golf to the masses in a way that hopefully will engage with those that wouldn't normally take any notice of golf or consider it stuffy and elitist. It's clearly got the full Sky backing and celebrity endorsements so if it can be a way to get people, especially kids into the game then it has to be a positive. Whether they'll still be competing for the 6's cup in twenty years time is however doubtful
Karen and Jodie Garg are going to be joining myself up there on the saturday to watch the golf and have lunch which should be nice.
Question for those criticising the quality of the field of the event, what kind of field were you expecting? This is a European Tour event and an experimental one at that, not the 5th major. Most European Tour events can only boast a select few of the world's top 50 ranked players and this tournament is no different.
Most of the top guys will be prepping for The Player's over in the US and clearly aren't going to be attracted by a first time even over in Europe.
That's great to hear
