I watched some too.........wanted to like it...just didn't do it for me......too forced, maybe everyone was trying too hard...the 'crowds' looked v small...Sky just love themselves eh?..but fair enough that they are trying something different..however, would it have better coverage if Rory, DJ, Jordan and Ricky were there?.............. they will need to get a big purse or points to get the big guns playing.

Personally I love golf as it is. It is not for everyone and nor should it be..horses for courses etc. They have great exposure world wide with tremendous prizes and life changing amounts of money for a top 50 player that yo can play for 30 competitive years or more depending on what your you play..........now, snooker on the other hand.......

Why are they going over the top with this?,a format with less holes to play, beat the pro and even a target grid on the par 3's, even talking to the crowd and signing autographs whilst playing would have done it, but smoke, crowd countdowns, stupid cheering and pointless Sky commentators etc is just farcical.Who on earth though this up .Years ago Sky used to have a skills challenge event that top plays participated in,it was much more entertaining than this.

Sounds different and interesting, I'll have to give it a go. Love that they're trying something new too, that can only be a good thing.

Might get more people viewing or wanting to give golf a go.

I want this sort of thing to be a success but without all the nonsense on the side that feels cheaply produced by some rubbish events agency.

Side note: Does anyone know how this works with regards to race to dubai/world rankings? Presumably it can't go towards the world rankings and race to dubai I'm not sure about.

Well what do you think?
Well I reckon they probably dish out race to dubai points because otherwise why would you bother, but was wondering if someone knew. Thanks for the excellent assistance.

Don't think it should mind, same with the one on the PGA Tour potentially giving a full 2 year exemption to Chase Koepka if they ended up winning.

I really wanted to like the format and tuned in to the first day, then heard the announcer praising the shots as they landed on the green. I'm all for change and trying new things to freshen the game up, but this just didn't do it for me, dare I say it way to amercanised, forced, artificial, hence I've not bothered with it.

Overall I quite enjoyed it but only saw highlights of day one but most of day 2

Didn't like:
Flames shooting out the clubhouse, its not nessesary
Far too many colours used on the on-screen graphics making it difficult to follow in the time it was on screen (we only needed two or three to denote the team at top/bottom of draw, not trying to get different colours for each country
Parts of the presentation/crowd involvement seemed forced (even uncomfortable)

Liked the:
Short 6-hole format to decide ties (caveat below)
Team format
shot clock
Tie-break par 3/NTP shootout

Something will need tweaking re a format of just six holes and greensomes as players from the likes of Spain and South Africa will barely have hit 50 competitive shots during their entire participation of the comp, and pros aren't going to attend with that risk

For me it seemed stuck between the two aims of attracting interest in golf and introducing a new short game format and didn't really achieve either as well as if they'd focused on one main aim
