Am off to Celtic Manor this weekend and was wondering if anyone had been and what was the best restaurant to eat at in teh evening?

n.a i am going with wife not a group of lads!

any one thoughts?

We went and just had the buffet at the olive tree (if I remember correctly)

It's like a posh buffet, basically all you can eat but there's a good variety and its all very nice, I had confit of duck among other things

Went this time last year and ate in the 2010 and it was very nice I had the short ribs and when they turned up it was like the ribs at the start of the flintstones, had the salted caramel for pud and it was gorgeous not to dear either and it was nice to look out on to the 18th green.

I have eaten in the Lodge, a short walk from the main hotel. The food was decent and it had a nice feel with open fires, comfy sofas etc.

Both Rafters and the Lodge are very good. I had food in the Lodge a couple of weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed it (had the belly of pork - superb). The Lodge overlooks the 18th green of the Roman Road with decent views over some of the other holes and the hotel.

They offer a shuttle service to both clubhouses from the hotel, the Lodge isn't that far but it's a bit of a trek to the 2010.

Have a look here for sample menus http://www.celtic-manor.com/resort-restaurant-menus.

I had a good burger in the cellar bar, which is in the cellar of the Manor House part of the resort - seem to recall they had a 2 for 1 on beers as well, so we got stuck into the Guinness!
