caught no using a winter mat

The culprits have been seen last year and this year. A verbal warning is a minimum they could expect. You can ban members. We had a number of members (including ex captains who should have known better) playing in fog when the marker behind the 1st or the one on the 10th couldn't be seen. Two week bans

for first offences?

Where did I say I didn't want to comply? I was giving my opinion on someone who knowingly disregards the rule, also trousers and trainers? Great look lol
Read you first reply again, then have a guess why we reading it might think it's you that doesn't want to comply.

If it's a local rule and I wanted to play I would respect that but if I'm honest I probably wouldn't bother I'd rather spend the time on the practice tee. Fortunately my club is a links course and doesn't have that rule

Patricks is a links course 🤔

Well fortunately my club don't see it necessary to employ such a rule, thank God

Wow, Walter Mitty, you've just claimed you play at The Home of Golf in Scotland, they use mats on all courses from Nov to March.

Me thinks you speak with forked tongue!

You would be Playing off a mat on the practice ground then. As you don't appear to get that its in place as the grass simply does not grow most of the winter. They are commonly used at a lot of courses... Even links. Even the St Andrews courses are on them.

fat chance id be renewing my membership if i got a 2 week ban for that as a first offense

Why? It's clearly stated in diaries, on the website and all over the clubhouse saying the course is deemed close and no golf allowed if the markers aren't visible. As it happened on the day in question, and bearing in mind the first is 200 or so from the patio outside the clubhouse to the one on the 10th and it was shrouded and then some, they still chose to play. I don't see the issue. If you break clearly published rules you take the punishment handed out

They don't use winter matts where I play, also played western gailes yesterday. Guess what- no matts. Practice area - no matts. I practice at a local inland course and can use the practice area without matts either

Grass does grow in the winter just not very much also if divots are replaced, not much problem. I am a gardener haha

If im honest mate I play golf because I like the competitiveness of it. I'm not really one for social outings it's not my cup of tea. All the best with it.
