Tried carrying, tried buggies, tried electric and tried pull.
Best option is the 3 wheel trolly that you push. Mines the Sun Mountain. Very light weight, most of the advantages of the battery powered one except no need to remember to charge it. Far better than the pull which I find a strain on the back. In winter though I carry because of roped off greens.

I have a leccy cart, but dont use it,and being a postie, carrying my bag is no great problem, gives me loads of time to clean 'em,caress 'em,love 'em as they are my babes :D :D as i'm walking the fairways

Carry my clubs as I find the pull trolley gives me a sore back and doesn't offer the same level of freedom to move about.

My course is also quite hilly in places and I find the pull trolley more hassle than it's worth.

I do prefer to carry but i do have a nice Powercaddy.
If i`m playing 36 holes, if the weather look`s iffy or is very hot, the course i`m playing is a bit of a monster(very long or very up and down) or just feeling a bit knackerd then i`ll use the trusty Powercaddy.
Generaly though i do like to carry, it`s quicker and keeps you in touch with the game.

4 out of 5 rounds I carry.
Powered trolley for special occassions, extreme heat or bad weather when I use the cart bag. I aren't going to carry that!

Got an electric at the moment but I think that's going in place of a push (3-wheeler). I carry as well if the mood takes me.
Although I find the electric great on the course, its a faff setting it up, remembering to charge it, remembering to put the battery in the car, not to mention that, when compared to a push trolley, they're bloody heavy!!

Echtloon, there's no category for "butler"....

I'm in a tiz about what's the best. I'd like a powered trolley but it seems like more stuff to cart in and out of the car.

I bought a full-size bag recently (1st ever!) and got a big sturdy trolley to put it on, but it's SO heavy and not exactly free-wheeling.

I'm thinking about going back to my Ping carry bag, but I do have a thing for 14 way (ooh, er, missus) and am very keen on the external putter holder.

Has anyone ever noticed the indentations a bag carrying golfer makes on a moist green when they walk over it? Nothing like a 10 to 15 stone golfer carrying another 2 to 4 stone and bending onto one foot to mark the ball. :D

There is a place for each method in my book, though carrying a golf bag has the long term risk of wear and tear on the body far more than a trolly does. If many of the golfers who have played for 30 or 40 yrs had used trollies from day one they might not NEED them now.

The elderly or disabled deserve help, and a motor trolley does this, though they are damaging to the course when its wet.

A pull/push trolley is the happy medium, they cause almost no traction problems on the course and are easy to pull or push if you do it properly. ;)

Now I will be carrying on holiday as there is no room for my trolley in the car as the dog won't move over, but I will be back to the old faithful pull jobby asap :D

Pull trolly. Simple easy and means you don't have to stint what you put in the bag (although I'm not sure I really need either the curling tongs or the welding kit in there?).

Am surprised so many say pull trolleys give a lot of gyp to their back? Not saying it can't, but I've used mine for years with no problem at all. Even on our annual trip (next week - yippee :D :D :D :D) when we do 36 holes every day for a week I don't get any back problem.

Carry...if I could, I would. But I can't. My knees are shot to bits nowadays, and towards the end of a round my game will suffer. Shame, because I do enjoy the freedom a bag gives you and love to "smell the roses" on the way round.

Pull...have never enjoyed pull trollies. I would rather carry. Odd.

Powered...love my GoKart. Can load it up to the gunwhales, plenty of drinks, waterproofs, jumper, etc. etc. Don't have to worry about the weight of the bag anymore and my game, especially towards the end of a round, is benefitting.

Ride...only if I am holiday and then it's usually hopping onto the back bumper of a mates buggy to save a long walk from green to tee. I can't stand the 90 degree rule on some courses which means walking across fairways with 3 clubs in your hand and invariably leaving one lying on the ground around the green etc.
Having said that, I'm spending a week-end at Lanhydrock in Cornwall with some mates at the end of August. Four rounds in three days. Quite a hilly course and buggies are cheap. So my Gokart will be staying at home and I will be going the buggie route.

I have a trolley but prefer to carry and often play 36 holes in a day at the weekend without much problem, I would say of the guys I go round with on a regular basis its probably a 75/25 split in favour of trolley, with 50/50 between electric and pull.

The powered trolley battery has died and need to replace it. Currently using a pull trolley.

Played with a physio recently who frowns on both carrying and pulling a trolley. He maintains both methods are bad for the back.

Sent off for the GoKart brochure so I'll preuse that and make a decision. I think in termso of initial cost and especially customer service its looking a one horse race especially when you see how much some of these powerkaddy start at

Might have a 2nd hand Hillbilly Terrain for sale soon...................

Just got a second hand powa caddy! BEST piece of kit I have bought.

Only 24 and not ashamed to admit I use a leccy trolley. I do football twice a week, Judo, various gym stuff in work so when I play golf, I want to relax, I dont want to be putting more stress on my knees and shins than I have to!

Next, the cart bag!
