Carry, Pull or Powered....

carry for quickness or electric for distance, terrain and if I need to take extra gear.

still got a pull trolley but it's headed for the skip.
if the electric broke I might go for the Sun Mountain push cart.

I maybe one of that small club of people who genuinely dislike TW fr his actions, not his golf, but I feel that our numbers are growing quietly......

Sorry about the 'sense' in my last post, its been a bit warm here today, I need to take more care......

I was definitely in the strapping lad posse but quite agree with the earleir comment that the aim of the game is to get the ball in the hole. Only thing that stopped me going electric was price.

I'm 38 and bought a pull trolley a while back to help my back and right knee, but find that even after 9 holes my back aches (and after 18 my knee complains for days). I'd only recently begun to think it might be strain from the trolley, as I can stand or walk for hours without issue.

So it's interesting to read how people are saying pull trolleys cause them troubles. Anyone care to elaborate further?

I am in the in between camp!

I have a push trolley and can confirm that there is no comparison to the pull type. I pull the buggy on a couple of holes over the dunes or when walking through the light rough looking for the ball for fear of the front wheel giving me a two stroke penalty and I do feel a strain on my back in comparison to pushing it.

Do not rise to the bait re age = Electric and Youth = Carry bag. Pure rot!!

Ask the Youth when carrying in the rain would he like a buggy and his answer would be..........of course.

Many, many times I went home from the course with my left side soaking as the grass was wet after the shower but it was too hot for waterproofs and the carrybag was soaking as I lifted it after each shot!!

Now I just saunter down the fairway rain, hail or shine - up here that is all in the course of playing the one fairway and feel sorry for the young laddies carrying their bags.

I carry.
I think about changing to a trolley and convince myself it would save me shots as I will be fresher on the final holes.
Unfortunately the cost out ways the few shots saved. Trolley, cart bag and car with a big enough boot.

Push trolley for me. Had a leccy one but space issues and a reasonably flat home course made it more of a liability. As I found out at the beginning of Winter, I can't carry for long as it buggers up my dodgy ankle. So trolley for me every time.

Not that this hasn't been done to death on here (like many other topics) but push trolley is infinitely better for you than a pull and negates the need for an electric (for me).

Stand bag in the dark months with only a half set. Who needs 14 clubs in mud, rain, cold and temp greens?

The exercise in golf comes from the walk, not from the carrying. Lugging a bag about isn't exercise, it's just physiological damage postponed.

I am 34 and use my Gokart, I find my game improved after I started using one.

The other thing I don't like about carrying is the damage it does to your clubs.

That said I carried on Sunday and shot better than I did with the GK on Saturday.

Thanks for the replies, 19th and everyone (trying not to hijack the thread :)).

Never a truer word spoken!

Now I'm off to look for a push trolley...

I insist... You can hijack if you want, I have decided to unleash the electric trolley and save my knees and back the pain.

One other reason for the thread was that the soft material on my carry bag where the clubs slide in and out of (dividers I suppose) has worn away and damaged my beloved hybrid shaft.

Anyone else had this issue with golf bags??

I use an electric one...A pressie christmas just gone but at 45 im not embarrassed to use it nor would i apologise.....I snapped my achilles playing ball 12 months ago and to say the trolley is a godsent is an understatement........Having said that i admire people that carry and one day would love too(when the leg permits)
Iv got this strange outlook on carrying players of what i have seen if i see someone carrying my usual observation is that there a pretty good player...More often than not in singles...Somehow this category of player just seems to look comfortable doing it :D :D

If its a roll up I might carry but for any competitions or on a long course I'll always trolley. Apart from the fact I can get lots of fruit and drink in the bag (essential to help with my diabetes) but I can also make sure I've got waterproofs if the weather is iffy. I was making a lot of mistakes over the last few holes when I carried regularly but I'm much fresher now using the go-kart. I've no shame in using one.

Carry, no question. Despite being a Ping man, I'm 35 and will continue to carry all the time I'm fit enough to do so.

So is it a pride thing that makes you choose to carry??

Why on earth would it be a pride thing? I carry because I like my clubs to go everywhere I go. In the winter I don't wanna walk around the ropes by the green, I wanna go straight to my ball. All the time i'm fit enough to carry, that's what I'll do.

Currently using a go kart for comps but if im only playing 9 holes or a knock i will carry.

I'm a pusher. Three wheeled 'manual' trolley which feels like the wheels run on air :) .... a good buy ... and, an old two wheeler and bag for winter golf!
