As Winter approaches at a seemingly vast rate of knots I've decided to give carrying another go while we have a "Hedgehog" rule for trolleys.
Let's talk dividers...
3, 5, 7 or 14 seem to be popular.
What are your preferences...?
I'll probably take a full set out so I need clubs to go in and come out fairly easily.

I like the simplicity of only a few dividers. My sun mountain has 4 slots, big one at the top, middle split into two, another big one at the bottom.
Woods and putter in the top, irons in the middle, 9iron and wedges in the bottom.
Works for me.

Previous carry bag was a Nike one which had a seperate putter divider at the top, if I could add that to the sun mountain it would be perfect.

I wont buy a bag that has 14 dividers, and i also wont buy a bag that has one of those ridiculous putter pits

^^ Same for me, my Callaway has 2 dividers (3 sections). Woods/putter....irons...wedges.

Only thing I would say Ian is that the Callaway pencil bag seems to be very poor for shaft rubbing on my woods, much worse than the Titleist I had before

does 14 dividers mean it holds 28 clubs! :D

I have an 11-way assorted sized slots and suits my clubs really well (I carry 12, with one of the larger slots having 2xirons in it)

The sun mountain h2no I have runs 6, but I find with using a fat putter grip things are a bit snug up the top end, this is because I have woods and putter in the two top slots.

Currently looking for a new waterproof bag and this is also a key point for me, the higher spec cally Aqua is looking most favourable

id go for a lightweight carry bag with just a few dividers in. My titleist sx6 has been going strong for years

whatever it is make sure its waterproof imo, just cant see why youd buy a winter bag that isnt. oh and not a fan of 14 dividers, 6 slots is usually plenty for me

I've had a PING 4 Series and now PING Hoofer, and they have some issues with club tangling. If you stand them up vertical, the clubs just drop in, but they tangle a bit when on the stand. I liked the idea of getting a 14-way divider, but I don't carry 14 clubs and have slight OCD, so I don't think I could cope with an empty hole :(

4 here on my Sun Mountain. Previously had a 14 way divider and it was a pain in the backside when you inevitably want to slam a club back in the bag

why wouldn't you have 14 clubs?

only trouble is the more dividers it has the heavier they tend to be.

Completley agree, I have the Nike performance hybrid that is meant to be both a carry and trolley bag with 14 dividers, its far too heavy to carry, wish i spent the money on a lightweight carry and a big trolley bag.

Ta for the input Folks...

Ian, worth a look at Direct Golf this weekend - theyve got 20% off all bags (and shoes) using code SB20

Got the text earlier too!
And waterproof is the way as far as I'm concerned...... Don't like golf bags made out of the same material they make T bags from - to quote Murph some years back
