Can this drill be over-done?

At the Belfry day (GM "power") I was advised to do a drill with the butt of the club in my tummy to improve my takeaway.
It's like this

So far, so good, I'm getting the hang of it and my swing feels different and better. I'm hitting the ball less "pull-y" and certainly finding more ooomph for sure.
Can something like this be over-done?
What d'you reckon?

C'mon, roll up, roll up.

I don't want to do hours of this if it's a bad idea.....not with club matchplay tomorrow. :D :D

Think you are on your own with this one Dave ;) ;)

Thanks leftie.

I'll go with just the 1 hour range work before the match. Just in case. :)

I'll spend the other hour with my new Mistress. Miss Victoria Easy.

Probably a tad too late to be remotely helpful.

:(

But I'd say a few minutes of this sort of exercise when you are warming up for a practise session, and then just a couple of reminders here and there between shots should be enough.

Little and often, as my old granny used to say.

I'm not a huge fan of any drill that doesn't involve actually hitting balls.
But if it helps with your takeaway, go for it

I know what you mean. :)

I've been "repeating" it 2,3,4 times between balls. I think I can feel when it happens for real on the shot, because my left shoulder comes better under my chin and my right hand feels as if it's going over my right knee (although it doesn't :D)
The results are excellent though.

t.b.h. I'm more worried about 1st tee nerves.
