Just spent the last month unable to play because of a rib injury.

First game back got D/Q'd. Should have been out in 3 balls.
One of our 3 didn't turn up, neither did one of the following group.
We were behind a 3 ball that contained "the known slowest golfer in the club"
We were waiting on every tee and so was the two ball behind us. So suggested that we went together.
Anyhoo, commitee member saw us as a 4 ball and said we'd be D/Q'd.
I know rules are rules but no advantage was sought, we weren't cheating, we were attempting to speed up play.
In our defence the comp rules say majors should be played as 3 balls. This was a premier comp not a major.

So really pissed off.
To cap it all I find that whilst I haven't been playing. They have decided to put the club up for sale.

Anyone got any ideas how I can raise £1.5m? Shares anyone?

Oh, and the ribs are still hurting

I played on Saturday as well and there was two 2 balls at the back and i asked if we could join up and the pro and other people said it wasnt allowed. Dont know why? A D/Q is a bit harsh though but suppose rules are rules even if they are really stupid . Im sure if everyone who is on this forum chips in a bit of cash could buy your club :D

Come the revolution Dave

Dont sell the club, sack the t**ts on the committee

Bob, there isn't a wall big enough to line em up against.

When the club goes up for sale, I would love to be in a position, with a consortium to buy it. Shares whatever...

was thinking of some sort of facebook campaign to buy the club with the promise of 20% annual charity donation to the elderly as part of the package.
Just not sure of the legality of setting up some sort of fund

If it is anything like most clubs around here, it already gives a damn sight more than 20% a year to the elderly, aka seniors.

Things can always get a lot lot worse, and this was nothing really, so chalk it up to experience and get on with your life.

??? I have chalked it up to experience, the club sale is an entirely different matter

I can't give chapter and verse but a couple of years ago I played as a four in a similar situation and one of my playing group won the comp and I came second and one didnt play in it at all (monthly turn up and play). Some guys complained that we should have been a 3 ball as per Club rules and therefore d/q'd. The Secretary refused to d/q us on the grounds of "equity" which think I understood to be that we didn't break any laws of golf and that the "rule" in equity shouldn't be used to d/q anyone only to set the playing pattern of the day.

Dunno if this helps!
