Just to let the world know that yesterday after being very excited because of some very good tee shots and chips I dug my own grave and buried myself in one of the easiest bunkers I know. 4 shots to come out of it! Just when I thought it was going to be a very good round...

I hate/love this game. :)

walking down the 15th I thought "I've won this comp" as I was way under my handicap, parred 15 then went double/double/double to lose by 1 shot, I mean.........you couldn't write this stuff ;)

Complacency will only bring you a smack round the chops in golf I'm afraid. How many times have we thought we've got a good round, potentially a trophy winning one, going and then limped in like a three legged mongrel

That can be partly complacency but I would say nerves have a large part to play in it too. It's when we have a good score going that we start to think that maybe we might be in with a chance of winning (or at least getting a good cut) and then suddenly our whole thought process changes and the nerves tighten a bit and that free-flowing swing that's got you to this point mysteriously deserts you.
