bunkers and wedges, which to drop or add!!

After a 6 years at Nairn now, ive finally have to admit there are at least 4 bunkers i can't get out of with my highest lofted wedge, which is the standard 56/13 SW. had a long conversation with 3 of my reg playing partners and they concur, i might need more loft for those.

current set up is PW, GW and 56.

PW is 120 yard club

GW is 110 down to 90 on full shots and chips off tight lies.

56 is bunkers and hacks out of rough, full shots from 90 down that i would attach the pin with.

rest of the set is 3-PW but TBH i don't use the 4 iron much so could drop that, add the 60 deg. or work out a happy medium with the others.

Any idea's??
 
You could get a more lofted GW drop the 56 and get a 58/60 for bunkers? I use my 58 degree Vokey Lob wedge as my getting out of bunkers club in all scenarios. I got the K grind so lovely big sole perfect for the sand.
 
I play a course with some evil pot bunkers and tight turf.

I have a PW, GW, 56 and 60, with low bounce. I use the 60 from green side bunkers and for nipped shots over bunkers.

56 is very versatile for general wedge shots and longer bunker shots.
 
I also have a 58 degree vokey with the k grind, works brilliantly out of bunkers as well as rough. So perhaps just change 56 for the 58? Although, if the 56 isn't enough perhaps consider the 60
 
I carry a 58 Patrick, with a 52 and a 47 pw. My 58 goes 90 and in, my 52 goes 115 and in and my pw goes 125, I'm happy to take yards off the gap though to cover the shots, and the 58 I can open up a lot, I play a lot of shots with the face wide open. I find that 3 wedges is enough for me and takes away the over thinking I used to do.

two of them have at least an 8 foot face, but its not the depth that i find is the problem Bob, all have a down slope. thats where i struggle to get out with the 56. There are others that are just as deep or deeper but are flat, no problem with the 56 there, even plugged in the face is not as bad as being in the middle and on a severe down slope.
 
It may be a stupid question but can you play these holes differently and take the bunkers out of play?
 
What did Seve do?

He used his imagination and manufactured shot's to suit the situation. Sometimes you need to just take your medicine and like others have said the sideways or backwards option may be best.

56 is very versatile and should still be enough loft.
 
only trouble with side ways is there is another bunker either side of the one I'm in most of all and backwards sometimes means into deep rough.
 
Sometimes even a 60 won't get you out of a links pot bunker depending on conditions, lie and position in the bunker.
 
Clubface wide open,
ball well forward,
body leaning forward,
wide stance,
aim well left
hit the sand 2-4in behind the ball, hard and let the arc follow the slope
full finish
