i was just wondering what club people use for greenside bunker shots?

I ask this because iv recently bought a 60° wedge and i have been meaning to give that a go, but i havent had chance to get to the practise bunker. Is the 60° wedge something that some of you are using now? what are the benefits of using this compared to the SW?

i use a 58º wedge (mizuno mp-t) and it's ace. it allows me to play a variety of shots out of the sand depending on how much i open the face up...

benefit of buying a wedge is that you can choose your preferred loft lie etc therefore SW arent used that often.

Out of interest what wedge did you buy? I use a 56 deg lie either 10 or 14 :S works most of the time

With 8 degrees of bounce this will only really be useful in bunkers with hardly any sand. Either that, or you are going to have to be mighty good at taking 'just enough' sand yourself. You will get no help from this club.

That said, I use a low bounce 58 out of bunkers, but I have had years of practice.

Are you any good at bunker shots in general?

I normally use my 58 and have been working hard on my bunker technique recently and it is slowly starting to become a bot more consistant although far from perfect. That said if I'm using my 3 wedge combo (52, 56 and 60 leaving the 5 wood out instead) I'll use the 56 for most greenside shots and the 60 on deeper faced bunkers or if I'm short sided.

I use a 56 with 10 degrees of bounce most of the year its plenty enough loft for the shots i play

I do add a 60 when i know there will be next to nothing in the bunkers or a deep faced monsters

Where i play there could be anything from 10mm to 100mm of sand so whos knows what the lie would be under the ball

I think it all depends on the type of shot you want to play....
A High flying, quick stopping shot is fairly easy with your 60* (Especially if it's got low bounce)... I play a longer shot, which i try and stop on the second or third bounce with my 54*... and a bounce and run with the 48*... However its all about what your comfortable playing. I'm fairly unconventional around the green and i've used clubs as low as a 5iron out of greenside bunkers. Practice makes perfect.
