Went to Titleist at Brampton Park on Friday for my fitting for my new irons.
First of all, the fitting was fun, informative, and very professional. I have ended up with a set of ZBs, R300 shafts, 1/2" longer and 2° upright. The spec is not what I would have guessed for me (I play S300s, but thought Rifle 5.5s would be more suitable), but is certainly the most consistent in terms of strike. I am also getting a new number 3 hybrid, as I need the longer shaft to match the rest of the irons.
As part of the c/f deal, my Father and I could play Brampton Park for £15 each. After a dull start to the day, by the time we got onto the course, the sun was out, and it was getting hot. Perfect golfing weather.
The course looks a bit dull from the first tee, but this is misleading as it is a cracker. It has a wide variety of holes, no two alike, and is a really nice layout, with lots of imagination (and water, lots of water).
The only down side is between the 4th and 5th there is a sewage works (unusual on a golf course), so for a couple of holes it would have been nice to have a bit more breeze.
The course was in great condition, the greens were fast and true, and we had a really nice round, with no one in front, and no one behind either. I also only lost one ball (on the first I hit a tree, and the ball shot off 30 yards right, straight into a pond).
All in all, a brilliant day, and I would recommend this to anyone thinking about Titleist or Cobra clubs. If you are seen on Mon - Thurs before 14.00, you can doa factory tour too, and pick up your sticks on the day. I will have to wait til the end of the week for them to be made and sent.
