Some of you may have noticed I've not been about a lot recently

No, I'm not giving up golf completely, but I have had some serious financial issues which need to be put right & golf is not going to be High on the list of things to do over the coming months. Or anything I'll be able to finance in the way I'd wish

So I really do need to sell off certain items of Gear, not to mention quite a lot of my Guitar, Bass & amps. Sad but true. And various other bits of equipment to do with other hobbys. Partly to help clear my debts & partly to finance my interest in Re-enactments for certain bits of kit to do with that. Its not a cheap hobby either, but the outlay once up & going is virtually nill so suits me down to the ground.

I'll keep popping on every now & again to see how things are going on here & wish everyone well

Regards
Paul. (aka Cernunnos)

That's gutting, but I hope you get things sorted and can return to this wonderful game. What you want really is someone you can pawn your kit to, and then (if you want) get it back at a later date.

Take care.

Cheers Tim. I could Pawn 2k worth of Classic JMP Plexi Marshall stack etc, something I vowed I'd never get rid of. but needs must & its going to be mostly the Guitars, Amps & cameras I'm going to have to think about how to sell on, as well as some of the additional Golfing bits I don't use.

Very sad Cernunnos.

However, needs must with your new interest. Hope it all goes well. Never really understood the re-enactment thing but it makes good viewing, I'm sure.

Hope that some time you'll return to this fabulous, if at times infuriating game in the near future.

Good luck mate!

Its not goodbye, mearly aduer (sp)

It wont mean I wont golf, just not regularly. It won't mean I won't post if I feel the need to pop on, as I will. I'll certainly miss you all & do.

I have one more little trip that fortunatly is already paid for some time ago coming up over the next couple of weeks & then the sticks will be laid up until at least my sisters wedding, when I'm sure a game will happen.

As for the re-enacting its late medieval, though with the opertunity to do Viking, Norman & Saxon with the basic setup & some minor yet important changes additions. Its someting I'd wanted to have a go at for a while, but never known anyone doing it until recently. The initial outlay like golf can be as cheap or as expensive as you want to make it. There are all the usual gear snobbery as with anything else. But I can essentially set myself up sufficiently for the price of a brand new set of Cleaveland CG irons & add the value of half devcent driver for some additional bits. & that's it. Lets just say my membership fees wouldn't pay for a chineese takeaway, so ideal.

If I can move a small valve amp a guitar & a set of Irons I could really kit myself up & have no additional outlay for the whole year & more.

I'll keep you all posted as to what I'm doing, either golf or re-enactmentwise.

Paul,

It takes a lot to come on in front of strangers in this weird virtual world and admit your fiscal problems and I can only echo the other sentiments and say I hope you won't be away too long either here or on a course somewhere.

Good luck with your new hobby, I wish you the best of luck and hope things work out well for you. You'll be missed on here until you return. I'd like to thank you for your advice you gave me when I first joined this forum.

The other half and I often go to Cosmeston Lakes for dog-walks on the weekends, it's just outside Cardiff. They often have re-enactments weekends/weeks, there is also a medieval village there, maybe you'll end up at one of the events there. Let me know if your near and I'll bring some cold-ones and say hello.

If you fancy playing golf, make sure you change out of your medieval/Cavalier/viking clobber !!!

All the best,

Gustavo
