Is it me or am I the only one whos losing interest in the open, I'm usually glued to the box for the duration but find myself in the next room trolling the golf sites. don't know if its the coverage, weather, or because the big names arn't doing so well or what but at least for today it's just not holding my interest.

Yeah I've been bored at times. Think it's a mixture of the weather and the course.

and the dreary coverage -

at the moment PA is rabbitting on about some guy in Portugal - who cares!

I'm even thinking of doing the shopping!

I wonder if Bob has spotted the issue.

"Oh look, it's someone I'm not really interested in, he's playing a shot on a hole couldn't tell you, and....he's nowhere near the flag, again...."

:D

Code:
I think it's the course.
Flat, featureless and boring

Have to disagree with you Bob, IMHO RSG is the best English links there is principally becuase there is so much variety
As for being flat... The Old has fewer a undulations than any other course on the rota - do you find that boring too?

I blame the lack of excitment on the weather and all those black rainsuits

I know its tradition to hold the open on a links course, but is it not about time they thought about using a inland course, what about Woburn, Wentworth, Gleneagles, or even Blairgowrie.

The trouble is Mike, so few people have played it so don't know the course. We only have the tv pictures to go by and alot of it looks the same on tv.

  was your mouth out with soap!! :D :D

I think it's great - links golf takes the players out of their comfort zone and presents them with a different challenge each day. It's not for everyone, but I love links golf and would happily play it every day if I could.

No atmosphere (doesn't look like it is particularly busy),not many birdies,in fact not much good golf......I will try watching it in the pub tomorrow I think,at least the chat will be worth listening to unlike the drivel that's coming out of my T.V.speakers just now.

Dire viewing.

I didnt want to bring this subject up for fear of being panned on here. I've really not enjoyed this years champs at all and have similarly found myself just turning it off. I havnt even watched any of it today although I may turn it on for 5 minutes before my teas ready.

Boring ... so far yes

The patchy coverage has made it difficult to get into but it is an interesting enough leaderboard with Clarke, Johnson, Bjorn and Fowler up there.

Shame the weather effectively took 35 players out of the equation this morning.

It's 72 hole stroke play. What did you expect?

I like RSG. It's a cracking golf course. And far from flat. The weather hasn't helped though.

Or perhaps because we want to watch golfers play stunning shots in gorgeous sunshine on lush green courses and especially this morning they look like a bunch of windswept club golfers in a winter medal

Flat, featureless and boring

Agreed, the course may be undulating in real life but looks flat and uninteresting on TV. Does not help that there are no stunning views, famous holes or reknowned landmarks
