Can you see who has booked a tee time and can you book to play with them?

Nairn you book the time under one name and can add the number if you wish, but you don't have to. all comps are drawn and seeded, whic means you will be in a grpup of a sim handicap slot wise you just pick a time scale ie 9-10.30 and you get a time allocated in that slot.

the Kings uses HDIDO booking so everything is done through that, and you can fit in in gaps if you wish

Option 1 - can see who's booked and can add yourself in. Been the case ever since we had on- line booking. And quite frankly, i think that's how everyone expected it to be.
We've a decent size membership but most people seem to know each other. Theres barely a handful who I'd choose not to play with. And I'd hope people thought the same about me.

Anytime someone uses annoymous the booking is deleted , you can also only add people in the membership so no fake names unless it’s a guest and then you have to pay for the guests , if you don’t then they are deleted as well.

Club should know before Wednesday so they can remove them from the bookings. Don't see why you or anyone else should have a regular time though.
Technically it’s not regular, we play Tuesday and Thursdays about 10.00ish it’s varies whether Ave to drop kids off at school or pick them up. Usually around 9.30 - 10.00 it’s the same folk booking the tee times. But the same folk are booked in first every week.

We can see who is the slots and so if there is space you know who you can join. Bookings open 7.00am on Monday for Wednesday. Nine holes only until Saturday 12th when it switches to four balls and eighteen holes. Members guests allowed but no visitors. Not sure the clubs plan of two balls and nine holes to cope with expected demand will work and most will want a four ball and eighteen and so Monday week will be carnage at 7.00am

Option #1 as well. There's a bigger question of etiquette around it though. I think some people are reluctant to just add their name, especially if they don't know the group they'd be joining. The club were encouraging people to just do that though.

The other issue is BRS allows people to hold the other slots in their time by booking it as "reserved by". Again, the club has been discouraging that.

The reserved option can be removed. Has been at ours.

We can see who has booked and can easily put our names down in any free spots, booking goes live on a Monday morning.

Tee times are allocated to regular 4 balls that are decided at the start of the season when you give an allocated time you would like (eg. 8-9am), these are operated on a purse system, ie. You need to have money in your purse to cover the comp, so £12 a month or £24 if you play sat and sun comps, if you don't have enough money you are not automatically booked in, so your space becomes available to others, that can cause a few problems as people will take someone's regular 4ball spot just because they have forgotten to top us their purse.

Otherwise it's a really good system that works well and if like me you are not in a regular 4ball it's very easy to get a game as there are usually always spaces and it's a very friendly club so you could pretty much join any group.

True, but there's no way to contact them. Where if you just turn up the club won't be too happy as they will only allow those who have a confirmed tee time to be on site.

There's another sneaky trick that members do. Where you are supposed to add players names but if you click back to home screen it adds you with 3 anonymous bookings.

Many do that and end up playing on their own, the club still hasn't bothered to sort this out.

Our club goes through the bookings and removes any with anonymous. Any player doing it repeatedly gets a ticking off from the manager.

We did have period of payers using names for people who they new would not be playing because they were shielding. The Captain phoned the guys shielding ad advised them they would be losing their credit for not being able to pay and it soon put a stop to the practice.

We use IG and can see all people booked. We had an email earlier this year post lockdown stating, due to track and trace requirements, anonymous was not to be used and all guests had to be named on the booking sheet. Just had a look at the weeks bookings and their are still loads of anonymous on there.
I have sometimes contacted another member via the app messaging to join a group and not had any issues

Option 2

One of my pp's would hate random members joining us if we had spaces. Im less bothered but Im glad we dont have that system in place to be honest. Just seems weird to me.

It’s would essentially be back to a ball in the chute type scenario which a few clubs still operated to maximise tees. Not a bad thing to get people socialising but until COVID is gone, I’m with your mate. I know my mates will be taking all the restrictions seriously and one has health conditions so I wouldn’t want a stranger joining us right now that could be potentially ignoring everything.

After me moan about the 3 x anonymous bookings on here. I had an email from the club re bookings and what to do and not to do at the course. I sent them an email re my gripe. Within 20 mins I had a reply they acknowledged they knew what some members had done and were addressing the problem. Primarily coz they needed to know who was at the course due to Covid. But also to crack down on those taking the mick.
They also mentioned there was a glitch in the intelligent golf booking system, which I thought there may be as I have a tee time booked on the back nine for 12.30 ish which is down on the system as 10.24 as a five ball with four folk I don’t know ??

What’s the best playing format to play, if people join us and are at a much higher level? Is this just something that people make up on the tee box?
First time with people who we don’t normally play with joined our time tomorrow. Just curious

I’ve asked the question to the club about playing winter singles k/o matches when we know that another two members are going to pop their names down with me and my opponent. when we play in fours we almost always play a friendly 4bbb. Not sure I want to be playing a friendly 4bbb alongside a comp singles K/o. Some pairs joining us would be happy to do their own thing in a four - but some would expect to play a 4bbb and could feel a bit miffed having to play with a pair playing a match and not actually playing with them.

If there was a way of flagging up on the booking sheet that a two ball match was being played - but there isn’t that I am aware of. Maybe I enter with my opponent and then asked the club to change our names to Match Player 1 and Match Player 2 so others putting their names down will know.

If it's an official club competition, make it bookable via pro or office and they just put reserved competition in the other two slots. Simple. What do they do in non Covid times?

Why would a club be organising KO single matches during these times when tee times are restricted during the winter months - seems a lack of clear thinking. Only way is that the KO match are joined by another two but not ideal

Just needs a bit of common sense surely?

It's amazing how seemingly simple things have suddenly become such mental gymnastics for so many people.

I played twice in the week prior to lockdown. First game a pair of us booked onto a local course online. We were joined on the first tee by another pair who were members to make up a 4 ball. Not a problem at all. They played their game. We played our usual matchplay. We all chatted on the way round and helped looking for balls etc.

Second game I played with my FiL at his club the day before lockdown. Same again, all tee slots were booked up as 4 balls. There they try to manage it so there are only 4 balls. Some of the old crowd who think they have some kind of right to block book times and play as 2 or 3 balls don't like it. But they are mostly grumpy old men and need to get over themselves.

I've played at plenty of courses with one other golfer via booking sites where another pair gets joined with us. We've always played our own game, no one has ever suggested the 4 of us play together in that sense. It can still all be very friendly and sociable without the actual playing being connected.

Our winter knockout is four ball better ball so not an issue. Just decide on a date/time and phone the office and they'll block the tee time out before the booking system goes live. Easy peasy. Don't agree with limited slots and light available dropping two spaces to play an individual match. If several people want to play on the same day you could be losing 4-8 spaces which means that many members are missing out. Simplest way if you want to pursue a winter knockout is wait until March when the light spreads out a but and have very quick turnarounds for matches

Oh for goodness sake ?

You absolutely cannot use Covid as an excuse for selfishly having just 2 people in a 4 ball booking when there is high demand for limited space.
Anyone that ridiculously worried shouldn't play.
Hahaha really! You seriously want to force a guy with health issues play with strangers who could’ve been mingling in a pub the night before right now! its That sort of moronic attitude that is spreading the disease and killing people unnecessarily. It’s that sort of moronic attitude that has essentially locked up the elderly since March!
