Ridiculous, so Robert Lee thinks that his personal opinion is more valid as a means of deciding the world rankings than the current accepted system? How arrogant

If he had Lukes short game he would be No1 by a fair bit but he hasn't so he isn't.

Absolute rubbish haha. Luke Donald was +4 going into the second round of the BMW, and now he's 5 under and does have a chance if he plays well today. Shows how well he recovered.
Based on consistency, Donald is superior

If I had to bet on either of them to win in a head to head, my money would be on Donald.

Already happened. Wentworth in May.
Head to head in the last round, head to head in the play-off.
Best Man won.

All this "he's the real No.1" , "No, he is" crap is doing my head in.
As it stands there is only one way to determine the best golfer in the World - it's called the World Rankings.
Like it or not, it shows who is playing best over a 2 year period. Luke has GAINED more points this year then Lee has in total over the 2 years. He is 2 full ranking average points above Lee.

There is only one Number 1.

Lee westwood needs to get some balls and join the euopeans on the US Tour. I'm sorry if people disagree but once you get past the top 5 or 6 players on the euro tour, they couldn't match the us tour players.

There was a piece on the golf channel about lee playing on european ranking comps knowing he was going to win whilst donald was playing well in the US against a better caliber of golfer and how he deserved the #1 spot more. I completely agree

Just another persons opinion. And dismissed just as quickly. Most of today's media seems to believe it can make up my mind for me - I tend to ignore such reporting!

The golf rankings speak for themselves - the top spot goes to the most consistent golfer - the person who gets himself up the leader board more often than everyone else. If Lee should be there then it's should be because he's finished higher, on average, than Luke. So far he hasn't done that.

Perhaps the fact that he has just lost to Bjorn with a totally duffed chip from the rough after being 3 up might prove the point about the short game to Lee.

I'll disagree first. If once you get below the top 5 or 6 on the European Tour the Americans are better why is the American record in the Ryder Cup in recent years so poor?

I agree that Luke is a better golfer by far but not that the US tour is streets ahead. That argument is a little out of date.

Must admit when watching this morning I kinda thought -Did he really just say that? Enjoyed the golf but not been impressed by Sky's Team at the Vivendi this weekend (apart from Di of course).

no way is lee better than luke, he cant putt half the time where luke can always save himself with his great short game, from what from the match play today lee gave away his match not bjorn winning it, which shows luke is better. plus luke this year has showen that he can play in both tours and different formats.

luke is deffinetly deserving of the number 1 spot
