I don't mind the format, as it's a bit different. However, why isn't it also stableford for handicap purposes? It wouldn't require much more putting out, and would be more accurate.

I could conceivably shoot a net 63, have 45 points, and yet be level to the course. In this scenario, I would be 9.under, and buffer.

I couldn't be cut, because the score for a minus does not need to be recorded.

I'm a fan of the format - course is a bleedin' consistent player!

But not, particularly, of it being a Qualifier. Murph's example is a bit extreme so unlikely, but demonstrates the 'problem'.

Having it as Stableford doesn't actually help as the two formats can clash somewhat when a long putt to halve is also also for 2 points - should you commit for the half and risk zero points or lag and take the 1-pointer.

There is a formula as to how scores convert to nett differential and there are 'plusses and minusses' about that, but it's all a tad too contrived - on something that is already 'adjusted' - for me.

Is it not the same as trying to play a knockout at the same time as a medal?

I certainly wouldnt want to play it as a bogey comp then have to try and hole out for 1 stableford point if id already lost the hole, too conflicting for approach on some holes for me. that said not a format i particularly enjoy anyway

Took me awhile to click on this thread as I thought the title was about some nasal cleansing you were going to do this Sunday..
