After posting on a few threads criticising Sky Golf coverage for amongst other things dull commentators/analysts, non-stop betting adverts and too much talking not enough golf (albeit during PGA events with American hosts), I really enjoyed the day1 coverage at Wentworth.

I recorded the golf as I often do so I can zip through the waffle, tedious examination of leaderboards and said betting adverts, but I last night I hardly had to because it was wall to wall golf. Commentary was slightly less tedious given they could actually comment on action though boxy still found swathes of time to reminisce on his middling career (had to get a dig in). Dougherty and Coltart's side features on the course and with the players were also a welcome addition.

Enjoyed the style which seemed to blend featured groups with a bit of main coverage round about it. Looking forward to the rest of the coverage over the weekend.

Sky would be great minus Roe and after a huge turnaround of staff.

Only my opinion of course but I actually enjoyed the last couple of weeks when Roe and the usual suspects were "rested".

Yep Roe, Boxy, Ewen Murray even Hennie out!

Keep Radar, Dougherty, Coltart, Beemer.

Enjoyed Luke Donald in the commentary box offering relevant insights rather that certain others harking back to their 1 win 30 years ago.

Quite liked Paul Casey on the range the other day. Never really warmed to him before but he came across as quite genuine and, well, nice.

Think Nick Dougherty is brilliant. Best presenter they have. Loved the way he tried to derail Damian Lewis' round by giving him a lesson before he tee'd off 😂.

BBC will have highlights over the weekend. Saw Peter Alliss yesterday at Hindhead presenting prizes from a Surrey members event. He looked every bit of his 87 years though. I resisted the opportunity to repeat comments I've made on this forum about him though ;-) He was a great presenter once, just not now.

Wonder who he's been having lunch with? I'm sure we'll find out over the weekend.

JR like, totally not there. Anyone know why?

To be fair, I'm taking a lot of positives from it (and other such non-speak in which JR specialises).

On the BBC, 45 minutes today and an hour tomorrow. Does the beeb pay Sky for the highlights images or do they deploy an army of technicians? If the latter, the cost per minute must be unbelievable. If the contract terms allow, wouldn't it make sense to, at least, put on a couple of hours of highlights - the "red button"? Its so half-hearted.It all smacks of the elitest/middle class old fogey spin that the BBC likes to project.
What will be guaranteed is five minutes of intro fluff from the obligatory female presenter. As if Andrew Cotter couldn't find the time alongside his commentary work that is if we need it at all.
I find the BBC's approach to sport completely cockeyed. Wall to wall coverage of the winter Olympics - how many people participate in the UK? Don't even get me started on bowls and bloody darts.

All PGA players now have to play 1 event they haven't played in the last 4 years. This was the only real week that could fit with Rose

He seems to be 'making the most of it'!

And Jon Rahm (and Louis Oosthuizen) are pretty well placed too!

Shame, missing a big tournament at home.

Can't criticise him for protecting his sources of income though!

Absolutely. Plus its less travel, less stress, less stress and travel time for his family, better weather, stronger field and its where he classes as home.
