sky sports falling short again.

They stop on the main network channel but sometimes continue on the golf channel. Sky cant always get the rights to the golf channel. Its like at the weekend when sky start coverage at 6PM they have to stop coverage for 30 mins half way through while the channels cross over.

How come they get some of the coverage from the golf channel makes no sense really. Or why dont sky just get the golf channel on again like they used too. Plenty of folk would watch it. If they have an F1 channel im sure they could justify a golf channel.

the golf channel that was on via Sky wasn't the same one that was in the US and didn't show live golf, it was mainly repeats of shows that had been previously aired over there.

Why the US broadcasters can't just let Sky show the coverage is beyond me. Same thing happens with the US Open & masters, they won't let Sky\BBC show live golf they aren't showing themselves so we have to wait until they have finished watching baseball or whatever it is they watch. Can't see it changing anytime soon unless Sky offer bucket loads more cash.

It is because the US broadcasters don't really have much interest in what the "foreign" broadcasters want to show.

Occasionally Sky are able to show the monitor feed that is not being shown on US TV at the time.

On the whole I think Sky do a great job in filling in the lengthy gaps

To me that is like showing half a football match live then stopping to show one from yesterday. Think its time to rethink the 80 quid I donate to them each month as more and more adverts and less and less meaningful content seems to be the norm now rather than the exception.

I think you need to renegotiate your terms if your paying £80 per month.

The issue of American broadcasters is a problematic one across a few sports. I'm a big NFL fan and it causes problems when showing live coverage of games, also meant for years they couldn't show the daily roundup shows during the week because the constant sponsoring and advertising during shows broke OFCOM rules.

Will be, Movies etc just arent worth it any more.

Trouble is with that is if you take one package off they only reduce it by a couple of quid. Unless you take off movies and sport together theres no decent saving. Theyve basically got us by the balls, same with Virgin as well.

I paying £75 a month for Full HD package and multi room. I am ringing them tonight to get rid of the movies and sports which will save £29 a month. And seriously considering the new bit of kit from BT..the youview and get Infinity broadband with them too.

So are you giving up watching live sport on TV then?

Trouble is the US Tour is all we've got this week. The European/Sunshine Tour events in South Africa are dull to the point of anaesthetising.
The quality of the field is only marginally higher than the Trilby Tour!!!!!

I like the PGA tour on Sky, it's the only thing I've missed since binning off my Sky package a year ago.
Fortunately I can now get Sky go through my xbox 360 courtesy of Dad's sky subscription.
So Friday and Sunday evenings will now consist of Pga golf. My wife is overjoyed about this, naturally.

TBH I don't really watch a great deal at the moment. I don't watch football unless Villa are on (so would not be a great loss losing that at the moment)
I only watch the golf but I can do without that and the Majors are hightlighted on BBC anyway. I will miss the Lions Tour but I am sure I can use one of my mates account and log into SKY GO on my PC or tablet.

When I speak to Sky tonight I am hoping they will give me free sports for 6 months or something like that.

No chance, half price if you are very lucky. Best time for deals is the Summer when the football is off

I much prefer watching the US Golf especially when the top names are not playing in Europe, find the European Tour a bit dull, yes the continious adverts are a pest, but I do like listening to Roe and Pugh in the studio along with other guests they have had ie Donaldson and Wilson. Though I do not like TW i enjoy watching him play golf along with Rory etc, and with the usa coverage you are very likely to follow them round ps Would still bring back Di Dougherty though, SS nice lady but not as good as DD

I cant stand marke roe, i like denis pugh and the other guy. I like that they bring in actual players to give their thoughts etc. I like the shot centre too, at least sky do try during the breaks give a bit of entertainment.

I'm so glad I don't pay for it. Sky Go on the Xbox using my brothers account :D

We've created this monster ourselves. Sky are only able to get all these sports because of subscribers. It's a bit of a catch 22. Can't get sports without subscription but if people stopped subscribing then it would open the market back up to non subscription channels.

No disrespect to the chap, but who the hell was the guy on last night in that awful 'terracotta' blazer?

Maybe I'm a bit young at 21 to appreciate fashion but my god, did he get dressed in the dark!?

i dont think it would become free it would end up just disapearing from tv. the bbc rave about all the golf they show but in reality they dont care because its only the open they show full coverage of. last year they had the womens open and the walker cup aswell but the walker cup was only showen for two hours on the red button.

why?? if they have the red button service that isnt being used why cant they show a whole days coverage. surely the cost for setting up all the cameras and the crew for the three days of coverage and the days before to only show like 6 hours of coverage is pointless, when the red button could show it all. its the same when the womens open is on too. no wonder the bbc lost the rights to the scottish open. I hope that they lose the rights to the open so that sky can show it, better coverage on things overall i think.
