I know it's winter me the weather's supposed to be dodgy but I've had enough of it now...
If it's not freezing cold and solid ground, it's hacking down with rain on to the frozen ground causing flooded courses...
I've yet to play on a fully open, unfrozen course this year - and I'm a member of two clubs until April!!!!
Getting a bit peeved.........

The winter weather will be much better when we exit the EU we won't have to have harmonised weather standards!

I'm off to Monifeith this morning and have woken up to a covering of snow at home. Hopefully things will be better at the coast.

Price we pay for being so inland, Cleveland the other week was eccellent, it's not like we're close enough to drive to any decent links courses either on a regular basis over the winter 😞

I have to say that this year in NI it has been great. We seem to have avoided most of the bad weather (until last week and this week..). Completely different story to last season when the course was closed nearly the whole winter so I know exactly how you feel.

A couple of clubs close to me were actually having issues with the greens because it was too warm and dry and causing disease on them.

Is Whipsnade still frozen and on temps ?

It's been about 11 degrees around here and everything all defrosted

All the new drainage we have put in has worked wonders - course is great nick , cut the greens and fairways last week

Also currently using the aireator on greens , approaches and tees which helps the water drain

I actually went to my place yesterday for the first time in two weeks. First hit, thinned hurt like hell. A few chosen words. I tried again. The head flew (snapped apparently) off my five iron. I ducked down once I realised what had happened. It took me 15 minutes to find it, buried in deep mud. Great. Temps all over the course so didn't putt on any. I found a Z Star though. I could just see the top of it peeping out of it's deeply plugged hiding place. Who uses good balls in winter ?????????

We have had very mild weather up here for the last two months Clive. Its raining here at the moment but inland heavy snow.

Ive played in shirt sleeves a few times so far this winter which is nuts. We have had ground frost a few times but once the sun is out its really warmed up

Sitting in the car park at the moment. Currently 3 dedegrees and brightening up. There's no snow here but raining which according to the forecast should clear too. Fingers crossed it looks like a good day ahead!

Played on Saturday for the first time in a month and it was lovely due to sun and about 7 degrees in the afternoon. We have had very little rain here(for the time of year) and the course is fairly dry as a result.

However we have had loads of hard frosts for the last month and due to get colder from tomorrow, Joanne played 8 holes yesterday and the course was on temps.

It is very frustrating at this time of year, its looking lovely outside, but because of heavy rain last night we are closed. I guess its just the problem with parkland golf. The water lies just below the surface and any rain has no where to go.

Little bit cold here at the moment 5deg but no rain and only a slight 6mph wind so just heading of to the coast for a game with a few mates.

Links golf is all its cracked up to be.......

I'm in the same boat as you guys for a change

15cm of rain in last 36 hours but its just stopped so hopefully all good for the weekend and I see the courses that were closed yesterday are opening again and the storm winds are easing up too

Certainly have been when I've been able to play.
Not frozen at the moment but they were when the rain started. Water has nowhere to go so it sits and gets frozen the next night.
They've had some greens open when they've thawed.
Getting colder again from tomorrow..

AP hasn't been much better.
All greens open but frozen..Now they'll be so soft they should be on temps...
It's just been the wrong combination of weather...

ours no better mate, frost was still there a few inches down when the heavy rains came and nowhere to go, was totally sodden on friday, hate to think how it is after last nights rain, and we'll be frozen again by thursday night

must be because you are higher above sea level at Whipsnade than Leighton Buzzard, I'm surprised you don't have:rofl: snow:rofl:

Take it you got round OK? - not a lovely day, dampish and chilly - but nothing that would stop golf

I'm working from home 400 yards from first tee
