A very difficult year at work, or at least an horrendous 6 months with one particular idiot. And a bit of laziness with my meds allied to my weakness for chocolate... 178/110 & an extra 7lbs after losing over 2 stone.

2 years pretty much to the day since my 2nd heart attack and a right rollocking off the Doc.

Time for a bit of common sense...

Sounds like a timely wake up call and not one that comes in the back of an ambulance!!

Cut out the chocolate, take the meds and you'll soon be on track. Have you thought about meditation to deal with the stress? Not my thing but have heard many who respond really well to it...

Hobbit, have you got your own BP monitor.
My missus used to get 'white coat syndrome' when having her BP taken by the GP and it was always high.
The Doc was always wanting to increase her medication and we refused to do that.
We bought our own monitor and took readings every second day. She was only slightly higher than the normal recommendations.
She goes to the GP now with no fear and her readings are good and the Doc's happy.

Everything in moderation is the key and healthy eating.
We have recently discovered a Yonanas machine which makes fruit ice cream based on bananas.
Great way of cutting out ice cream [which we both love] and eating more fruit.

You freeze the fruit......can be anything without pips.
Take the portion of frozen fruit out to partly de-frost about 20 minutes before you intend to eat it.
For two portions you need two med sized bananas and half the volume of fruit. Strawberries/ mango/ raspberries/ oranges [no pips] in fact anything or combination you fancy. The Bananas need to be fairly ripe [cheeta spots is best] and they are very cheap to buy.
Put the bananas in first then the fruit. It comes out like firm Mr Whippy ice cream and you can eat it straight away, or freeze for later. Allow time to de-frost if frozen.
My wife is not a great fan of bananas but enjoys the 'ice cream'. As I said the banana does not overpower the flavour.
You can buy frozen fruit in cubes in most superstores, cheap and ideal for this.
Great way of getting fruit into kids and quite filling, you don't need big portions.

This sounds brilliant. I have never heard of it but I am going to get one. Thanks!

I just took my BP on our own machine which is usually around the same reading as in the docs.
I was expecting it to be high after having a ffew brandies . But no it was 125/69 and my pulse 58, both are quite low for me as I'm normally the high side of normal.
Maybe I'm relaxed as a newt.
