On a previous thread. It was said that CG's hit further than Blades? Is this true or is it just that modern CB clubs have stronger lofts. Only ask as I have a set of blades and CB's. Both old and the same lofts, and have not noticed much if any differance in length.

I haven't read the post in the thread, but perhaps it meant CBs go further more of the time because of centre strikes are more forgiving and don't lose alot of distance? Whereas an off-centre hit with a blade would result in a farty shot that comes up short (most likely)

Difficult to answer that one. Like has been said you get no distance loss on off centre hits with cb comapred to mb. Best way to find out would be to get one of those robots to hit some shots. Taylormade do the new TP irons a Muscle back, a Muscle cavity back and a cavity back. TM would probably be the best to do this with as they are the only manafacturers I think that do the same club in all 3 styles. The MB and MC have different lofts to the CB though. Maybe Golf Monthly could do a test and give us some stats on this.

yes i've heard from a few pro's they do, cavity backs are typically cast, with the face being thinner so more springy, where as blades normally forged, the face being thicker, less springy.

There is a difference in distance but not much
