Could anyone advise me of the best winter golf venues in the Scottish Borders? We are a group of 4travelling up to St Andrews from the North West in early November and want to Play on the way. Obviously we are looking for the best bet of avoiding winter greens tees, mats etc. without going to far out of our way due to reduced hours of daylight. Any help would be much appreciated.

if its not far out of the way you should definetly go to minto golf club, nicest course ive played in the borders so far. Ladhope in galashiels is alos a nice wee 9 hole course definetly a challenge. The woll at Ashkirk is also a great course to play and the food in the club house is ment to be the best around. Torwoodlee is also a challenge but they do use some tee mats, at least they did last time i played there, earlier this year. I hear the Hirsle in coldstream is ment to be great to, and as their website says they are the Augusta of the borders. I would avoid Jedburgh as i was up there today and its prity wet under foot in places and its not even been that bad weather here the last week or so.

Hope this helps, im only going by what if played and what ive herd from friends i play with.

Spooky!!

Me and the Club Sec been talking about a Borders trip this morning, and the clubs we've visited there.

Peebles, Minto, Melrose, Galashiels, & Roxburghe (stunning).

Enjoy your trip

If I were you I would travel up the A1 via the East Coast and play links golf. Great courses and they will be drier than the inland courses. Try Dunbar, The Glen at North Berwick, Gullane No 2 or 3, Longniddry etc.

This.

About a 20 mile stretch of, mainly, cracking golf courses from Dunbar all the way through to Edinburgh.

Easy enough to get to from NW aswell, don't even need to go acoss and up the A1, either go across through Moffat or Biggar to get the Edinburgh bypass......
