Best wet/cold weather gloves

The whole idea of mac wets etc is for the glove to be wet to help with the grip

Hand warmers will help dry the glove out which in turn doesn’t help the grip
It's fine, I'll sacrifice that to keep the feeling in my fingers. What kind of supernatural substance grips more when it's wet anyway? I'm sure they'll work fine either way.

Then just wear normal leather gloves and keep them dry
What?? That's not possible is it, normal gloves get ruined within minutes in the rain.

Relax anyway, 30 seconds of holding a hand-warmer isn't going to completely dry out a MacWet glove, it'll just make it slightly warmer through the fingers that's all. And I'd be surprised if they're completely useless when they're dry anyway. Are they not made of suede, the same as the FJ one?

On this again - I have heard that before, but is it a myth or based on an older version of the gloves? Because they don't even make this claim on their own website. Here are some of things they do say:

"MacWet gloves provide unrivalled grip in all weather conditions, thanks to technologically advanced fabrics and second-skin fit. A firm favourite in field sports, equestrianism and many other activities, you can count on MacWets when performance and precision matter.

Wet, muddy or hot and humid conditions? Need great grip without compromising sensitivity or dexterity? MacWet gloves are the go-to for winning performances the world over."

"The Climatec® short cuff gloves are designed for cooler weather, offering increased warmth along with close contact and great grip.
The Climatec fabric on the back of the glove is wind-proof, water-resistant and fleece-lined while the unique Aquatec® fabric on the palm wicks moisture and water away, intensifying grip. This is how the gloves provide a competitive advantage in hot, humid and wet conditions and why they’re known for ‘all-grip, no slip’ performance."

Nothing about them needing to be wet.

It’s very possible to keep them dry in most conditions- just takes a bit of work taking them off putting them under umbrellas etc

As soon as you put it on and grab the wet club and swing, then it's wet. I prefer not to faff that much anyway. When I play in a rain glove or winter gloves I pretty much leave them on the whole time.

I'd be interested to hear from anyone who's tried MacWet and the FootJoy Rain Grip. Because I've never had a probably of my hands freezing with the FJ. So perhaps the material is different.
I have had a couple of pairs and Pros/ Cons in my view if it helps

Pros
Very performance in the wet
quite durable
wash Ok
sizing Ok (I followed the sizing on the web site

Cons
A wet hands this time of year are cold hands
getting on and off when wet is a pain so dont bother
Expensive (subjective)

I've never had an issue with losing grip when they are dry. In fact they are the only gloves I wear when it's cold, wet or cold and wet.

Macwet have a new version out for colder weather called Climatec.
I've just bought a pair. I haven't used them yet, but they do feel warm. The following is from Gemini

MacWet Climatec: The Winter Specs

The Climatec version differs from the standard model in three main ways:

  • Fleece Lining: The back of the glove is lined with a thin layer of fleece to trap heat.
  • Windproof & Water-Resistant: The material on the back is much denser to block the biting wind that usually cuts through mesh gloves.
  • Long Cuff: Most winter users prefer the Long Cuff version, which fastens just above the wrist to ensure there’s no gap between the glove and your jacket sleeve.

I tried on the Mac wets in a proshop but never bought them when the pro told me they were not waterproof just gave good grip in the wet.

Like others my gloves stay on all the time and get changed when the wet is causing my hands to go too cold.

I would tell you the make I use but I cannot find them anywhere anymore.

I had some great Dunlop ones but again they seem to not be available anymore - so no help there.

Zero Resistance used to make rain gloves, recommended that they needed to be wet to work well. I had and used a pair - they were slippery on the club when dry, very solid on the club when wet. I used to wet them in a puddle before using them.
Of course, wet gloves don't provide warmth to the hands, more heat is transferred/lost from the hands due to the glove's wetness. (I don't play in the rain when it's less than about 6*C because nothing dries.)

I've used those as well in the past but was a cheapskate this time and just bought the mesh ones.

I bought Mac wets a while back. The grip is better when wet. I find them nice and warm in cold dry conditions.
One round was rain all the way and the grip was great but I did get cold fingers by the end.

I've used MacWet, Footjoy Rain Grip, Golden Bear Rain Grip and Dunlop Resin Grip. All worked for me. I'm not convinced paying more will get you a better performance. My hands get wet and it never bothers me (until I need to pee then you remember how cold they can get! 🫨😲)
